Twisted

I just recently finished this book and think it is great! Laurie Halse Anderson is great when it comes to writing about realistic teenage events/experiences!

Anderson always brought something so new and classic to any novel (I loved, loved, loved Speak and Catalyst), and once again, she proves herself through and through. I don't know, I just love the fact that she can write young adult novels, and make is seem so real, and make us to what teens truly are: not fake and materialistic (at all times), but also humans. I hate novels such as Gossip Girl and others where name dropping and allusions make up half of it, some of us aren't like that.

I loved this book because it was so special, and real, and vivid. The entire time, it took my breath away.

Tyler has been a dork for so long. He was always made fun of and always picked on. So he wanted to prove how tough he could be. But when proving himself led to him getting arrested, he never expected what would happen. Who would have thought that all those hours of community service would give him so many muscles? But people are noticing. And while some of them are embracing his new personality, others hate him even more then they did before. But that's just another year at high school.

I have loved Laurie Halse Anderson's style of writing for so long. I've read most of her books. (I'm still trying to find Prom at one of my bookstores!) And this book definitely did not disappoint me. I think she can write about anything and I'd love it. (She's got two books coming out in the next year. one is called Chains and that's coming out in Fall 2008 and the other is called Wintergirls and that's coming out in Spring 2009. I'm excited!) I'd read anything written by her.

The characters were all very wonderful. They all seemed very real and often reminded me of people at my high school. There were the ones I hated and the ones I liked. I really liked Tyler's little sister. She seemed really sweet. I loved how she cared about her brother so much.

The plot was wonderful and kept me reading. I was unsure of what would happen and it was nearly impossible to put down. But I had a feeling my teachers wouldn't be too happy if I read my book instead of doing my final so I read it afterwards.

I was a wonderful book and I would recommend it, as well as anything this author writes.

Another book I had on my Reading Bowl List. It was better then some of the other ones. It amazed me, he had to put tar on the roof of the school just bc he spraypainted the school.

If this dude had the guts to do that (plus the message for the princible) i think he should be rewarded, but hey what do i know?

a couple of my fav parts was where he smashed the train set, and when he told Chip off toward the end.

This book really made me think. Especially about what I shouldnt be doing in high school. And what i SHOULD be doing. It really shows kids the consequences of being a kind of kid who really doesnt care, and how you shouldnt be like that. I thought it was a really good book. I dont think I'll ever forget it.

There is a note on the first page of this book that says "NOT FOR CHILDREN." It's true, the narrator goes through some very serious things and discusses them pretty frankly. Otherwise, it was a good look at what goes on in the life of a typical, pretty good kid who made a few bad decisions and had a lot of bad luck. He struggles with his family and friends; he wants to do what's right, but sometimes life seems to be stacked against him. I'd recommend this for high school students and a few very mature middle schoolers.

The book I read is called Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson. This story is about a high school boy. He's going into his senior and he gets in a bit of trouble. He's at a car wash one day and sees the girl of his dreams. Her family has a party. Tyler's dad works for her dad, so they go to the party. From there, the story begins.

I love this story. Even though it's about a boy in high school, it tells junior high kids what they shouldn't do while growing up. This story teaches teens a lesson. If you are patient and try your hardest to succeed, you probably will. I think mature teens should read this. If you like books that make you think, then check out Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson at your library.

This book was well written, though slightly vulgar, but a good representation of life inside a high school boy's mind. This book had a certain element of surprise to it. By the title of the novel you would expect him to be some type of sick rapist who is just trying to get with this girl for certain reasons, but as the novel progresses you learn a lot about his true intentions. When the girl throws herself at him, totally drunk, you would think by the things he has thought about her and the title of the book, that he would definitely take advantage of this opportunity. Little did we know that he has some dignity and morale... who would have thought, right? Well, in the end she turns out to be a little more twisted than Tyler. I found this book pretty entertaining. I thought it was humorous, serious, and sad all at once. This book was one of the ones that got me into reading teen novels because it seemed pretty realistic to high school life, with a small twist.

What a powerful book! I was thoroughly engaged in the story and Tyler's plight. That kid had it rough and yet he was able to overcome it, but barely. I was so proud of him by the end of the story, I wanted to bust! He finally stood up for himself, his family, and had some pride. I thought it was the end for him for a minute but he came roaring back! I could have done without all the sexual innuendos and the language but the story really sucked me in. Those last few pages, I was just holding my breath in anticipation. Needless to say, I loved it!
