If you want a book full of...emotion, love, pure JOY, happiness, and endless friendship...then The Sisterhood is perfect for you. My second real teen book series, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants just digs deep down into the emotion of these four girls--places no other author, as far as I can see, has ever really reached and even wanted to write about. This book isn't just about friendship and a pair of jeans, it's about true love, life, and finding happiness in things and people you love.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is an amazing book. It is about these four best friends who do everything together and have never spent any time apart. Then one summer that changes and they all go to visit either family or go to camp or even just get a job and do not see each other the entire summer. Their names are Tibby, Lena, Carmen and Bridget. One of the girls had gotten a pair of thrift shop pants and just through them in her closet. One day they were found and everything changes. These pants fit all of the girls perfectly even though they are all of different sizes and shapes. They make up 10 rules to go with pants that all have to follow. This is a story about their lives with the pants. I would recommend this to any girl, a guy may enjoy it, but its not that likely.

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants is the first book about 4 different girls that had been friends since birth. Carmen, Lena, Bridget (Bee), and Tibby, are spending their first summer apart and each goes through challenges and changes in their lives while keeping their friendship through a pair of magical pants. The story is told through the four main characters. They tell their story and experience during their time apart and by the end of the summer, they gather to share their stories, some happy, some tradgic.

I really enjoyed this story and went on reading the books that follws. This book really brings out the true meaning of friendship, where they stand by each other and support each other through their toughest time.

Everyone has fun and I think this is a great book. Bridget goes to soccer camp. Tibby works at a store. Carmen goes to her dad's and Lena goes to Greece! It is fuN!

Yeah, I have to agree with others, this book definitely surpassed the movie. It was engaging and interesting, and I loved the fact that it was about friendship. You could see that each of the girls hold each others in their hearts, and they are so close that they are sisters. There are other themes involved, but it is friendship that prevails, what brings such a brightness to the book, and which makes a reader truly happy to have similar friends, or envious of a lack of such friends.

Completely compelling, I'd most definitely tell anyone to read it. I usually dislike reading books after seeing the movie, but oh boy, was I missing out until I read it. :D

I very much enjoyed this-- the entire series, really. Ann Brashares has such an ease with her writing,--- it's something I really admire. I always identify with Lena, Carmen, Tibby, and Bridget, all in different ways. These books show how unique people can come together and form a beautiful friendship. With so many doubts about people and just life in general, it is nice to read something that assures you that there are good people in the world. The situations in this book are fun, and though the story isn't entirely believable, I still love it! It's an exciting adventure and I love the format of the books-- they make for an easy and enjoyable read.

Recommend!

I read this book about 4 friends who've grown up together and are now spending their first summer apart. They encounter 'magic' pants they decide to share through the mail over the summer - sounds lame, right? Yeah, okay, the pants part, kinda lame. It's not really about pants though. And it's not just for young adults. The girls are 16 in the book and while two of them do have their first real encounters with love and boys, the others, well, one has her word turned upside-down by an annoying younger girl who puts life in perspective - truly a wise and touching girl, and the other faces a change in her family structure that a lot of kids could relate to.

I like that the book seems to honestly portray the girls' trials and tribulations, though I do doubt how 'real' it would be for 16 year old girls today - at 16 first encountering love/boys? The girls are all, despite their shortcomings, good, all-American (even the puerta rican) girls who don't seem to get in a lot of trouble. I find it doubtful that the four different girls would have remained friends despite their VERY different interests, but I also can suspend my disbelief and enjoy that even if it's in a fictional world, friends can remain friends depite differences.

A story of four best friends who go their own way for the summer. And keep close by sending each other a pair of pants that magically fit all of them perfectly. Lena goes to Greece to see her grandparents, and falls in love with Kostos. Bridget goes to Barcelona for soccer camp. Tibby is stuck at home by herself. And Carmen has to go live with her dad because she is in the wedding. The pair of pants keeps these four girls together for the three long months of summer.

I, personally, love this entire series, but none of the sequels even begin to top the original book.
This was one of the most realistic teen books I've read before, and I truly felt as if I were there with the characters. I was there with Tibby and Bailey. I was their with Lena in Greek. I was right there beside Bridget at soccer camp, and I was standing behind Carmen as she looked in the window at her father's new life.

You will love this book, if you don't already.
