What worked: YA meets The Haunting of Bly Manor. This paranormal romance is unique with its twist on an urban legend of The Drowning Girl. Right at the start I was hooked. Eden is the quiet one with a secret home life that she doesn't share with her friends at the exclusive Atwood School. Her character is multi-layered with loving being with her school friends, but complex as she's not totally honest with them.

The urban legend of The Drowning Girl is intriguing. The story is that if you fall into the Narrows, the river by the school, it will keep you forever. Rumor meets reality when Eden is offered an opportunity after her parents 'forget' to pay her tuition, to be the live-in companion to Delphine. Eden remembers Delphine as the girl who was lucky enough to fall into the Narrows but survive. Or did she?

The secrets come to fruition when Eden sees a ghostly figure in the water. This is where the twist comes into this story. I didn't see it coming! I love it when that happens!

Good pacing. Great dialogue. Engaging characters. Good GLBTQ+ representation. This ghost story is much more than that with a sweet bubbling romance.

Creepy, haunting paranormal story that also addresses the subject of abuse. Perfect read for those who love a good spooky tale.
Good Points
