Fifteen-year-old Clary Fray discovers the world of magic when she witnesses the murder of a demon by three teenagers who are invisible to everyone else. When her house is invaded by demons and her mother is kidnapped, she is brought to the home of the same teenagers who she saw kill the demon. There she is educated about demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves by the demon-hunters, who call themselves Shadowhunters. With an Shadowhunter-gone-bad on the loose, Clary learns not only about this other world living right beside her, but also about her past and herself.

Cassandra Clare's storytelling style is polished and entertaining. Her characters dynamic and have depth. The book is altogether resemblant of Harry Potter, but geared toward an older audience. It' ll keep you turning pages and anxious to read the next one.

My expectations of this book started out shaky. I had just finished reading the Twilight series (and loved them, of course), and wasn't sure if other books would be able to satisfy my cravings for love, adventure, and wonderful, well-written fiction. As soon as I picked up the book I was drawn into a world so carefully and splendidly woven, and finished by the time the sun came up. Mind you I am quite horrible at consistant reading, and need novels that will be able to grab my attention. The next day I ran out and got the next in the series (City of Ashes). If you're looking for something fabulous, with a great romance that puts Edward and Bella to shame, you MUST give this book a try.

Title:City Of Bones Author: Cassandra Clare Publisher: Simon Pulse Number Of Pages: 485

Summary From Back Of Book: Their hidden world is about to be revealed...... When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder-much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Clary knows she should call the police, but it's hard to explain a murder when the body disappears into thin air and the murderers are invisible to everyone but Clary. Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. Within twenty-four hours, Clary's mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the sight? The shadowhunters would like to know

Review: This book was a definite page turner! I read this book in early December and loved it. City Of Bones was fun and mystical. It is part romance and part action. Clary and Jace were my favorite characters. All the characters have depth and very different personalities. It was great overall

.

I recommend this book if you like romance, demons, action, vampires, werewolves, faeries, and young adult novels.
