I was very excited to read The Host after reading and loving the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. The story line was very interesting and the plot made me want to read it. I read the beginning knowing that it would take some time for the story to get started, and of course it did. The main character infuriated me from the start! But I  enjoyed the story when the character, Mel, come in from her POV. When the story was in full force I began to want to stop reading in the middle but know to never do that because it could get better. Unfortunately it did not. I'm sad to say the only charater I liked was the voice inside the main characters head, yet she had her moments of irritation too. Like I said the story line was good and it could have been great but sadly it wasn't. Some would argee and others disagree. If you have time to spare read it and see what you think.

I really didn't like this book too much because when you first start to read it,it gets so confusing! You don't know if the girl is talking or if the souls were talking. But anyways, it's about a girl who sees the world getting taken over by these souls and she's the only one in the begining who can control herself. She goes long trips to find her true love but the other soul inside her loves that same person. Who will get that love, the girl, or the host??

I do recommend it for teens if you have the time to figure out who is talking in the story! But, still good book.

"Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away.

Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind." - From author's website
"Science fiction for people who don't like science fiction." - Stephenie herself

This book was really good. The first time I finished it, I closed the book, turned back to the front page, and started reading again. I did that the second and third times I read it, too. That's how enchanting it was.
Those of you who have read and loved Twilight will understand when I say that Stephenie Meyer makes you feel as if you're in the story, in every word on the page. You might not understand, though, when I say that this was so much better than Twilight. Don't believe me? Read it and see.
Now, don't misread the quote up there - if you like science fiction you will like this too. But those of us who prefer fantasy will feell like this is fantasy. This is just an amazing book. I can't describe it any better than that. Seriously. If you like books, go read this one.
