This was a pretty interesting take on the whole "vampire" thing. It was different that to become a vampire, you had to drink another vampire's blood. (I thought vampires didn't have blood!) It was a lot less intense than other vampire reads (i. e. the Twilight series), but I didn't like the way the author used lots of profanity. But the guy Mina ends up with (I won't tell who) was a lot more realistic than other vampire love interests, such as Edward Cullen. Not that Edward isn't awesome, but I could imagine this vampire actually existing in the real world. Sucks to be Me was told from a totally cool point of view. (Ha ha! "Sucks" and it's about vampires!)
One last thing - don't read this book until you're at least 14, even though it says 12+.

I LOVE this book! I like how it is so... modern and that the girl deals with everyday girl problems! I love how Mina has  2 choose. And how she goes from one boy to another to another! i LOVE her decision in the end. It is probably the same decision i would have chose.

This book was very funny and was an easy read. I found it hard to put the book down when I opened it. The humour in this story was well weaved in with the plot line about Mina choosing whether or not to become a vampire. She has a few guys in her life and it helped take a break from the vampire theme. So overall theres a good balance between the ordinary teenage life and the vampire theme. I would definitly recommend this book to anyone whether you love vampires or would prefer not to read those kind of stories. It's balanced for both kinds of people.

Mia has parents who seem aboslutely normal on the outside, but inside, they're vampires. In trying to giev Mia a life of normalacy, they hide from everything vampire. They want Mia to become a vampire so that they didn't have to hide anything. She has to make the choice, but for now, she has to go to vampire classes with kids that have the same choice to make. Along with everything in a teenage life, all the drama, this comedy book about vampires is a very goood read.

This is one of my favorite books. Mina is a average teenage girl expect that her parents are vampires and she cant tell anyone, even her best friend. When the vampire council finds out that she exists they force her to make a choice between becomeing a vampire or leaving her parents forever and loseing her memory of them. this is a great book that realates to everyone.

i have to say that this book was funny. most books i read aren't. it was a little predictable and quite obvious but for the most part i couldn't complain. the main character mina was easy to relate to and showed me and i suppose most poeple that yeah families can be touchy and sometimes crazy but in the end they mean well. i was in love with george from the beginning and couldn't stop reading the book until i knew that he ended up hapy however the ending shocked me a bit. it's an easy and worthwhile read for twilight fan looking for a laugh.

Well, now that the Sucks to Be Me Launch Party is over, and I've had a chance to read the book, I'll have to say, my only regret is that it had to end... Who would have known that a vampire story doesn't have to be scary?

Yes, Sucks to Be Me is a vampire story, but nothing like you've ever read before... so throw all your old notions and pre-conceived ideas about vampires out the window because that's not what you'll find in Kim's new book. What you will find is a barrel of fun... vampire style. Kim started with a list of the myths and legends about Vampires, tossed away the obvious ones, and had some fun with the rest. For instance, What if you could choose to be a vampire or not? Do Vampires have a code of ethics?

Mina Hamilton is a typical teen with a best friend and all the usual worries about hot boys, prom night, and keeping secrets. Humans aren't supposed to know about vampires, but Mina has known about her parents for many years, and now she needs to make the choice. The only thing is, she can't tell her best friend about any of the strange things happening... and those things get stranger by the minute.

Mirrorstone has done an awesome job in producing this novel. The cute litte vampire bat on the back cover, the pages of Mina's notes and lists that she writes while she's trying to make her life-changing decision, those Myth versus Truth snippets at the head of each chapter, all add to the appeal of this book, while Mina's sweet voice and personality captivate the reader and make you want to know how it all turns out in the end. Well, you'll just have to read the book.

Recommended for readers age 12 and up who are in search of adventure and a little something different for their reading enjoyment.
