This is my favorite book of all time:) In the beginning I found it funny, but when you got into the middle of the book, I found out it wasn't something to joke about. I think every girl should read this book. It's inspirational, funny at times, sad, impowering, and moved me to tears! Definetely take some time to read this AMAZING book.

its a short read but it is awesome. the book is quite inspiring. i could imagine this happening to anyone, thats why i liked it, its pretty realistic. i also watched the movie with kristen stewart and it was not anywhere as good as the book, but its cool to be able to compare them.

Speak is about a high school freshman named Melinda who is an outcast at her school after she calls the police while at a summer party that gets out of hand. The book is a great short read that allows the reader to enter the life of a high school student and see the daily problems that occur.

Melinda was one of the popular girls, a fun-loving person who had friends everywhere until one crazy party when she called the cops and many people were arrested. The reason she felt a need to call the police is revealed later in the story but throughout the story Melinda is a social pariah because of the party. No one really listens to her or tries to befriend her, even if they tried she would probably push them away. In the end she does get the respect she deserves and her old friends come to realize that they were wrong. The writing in the book is amazing and quite personal. It is one of the best books I've read and I recommend it to anyone.

The author captures the reality of true high school drama through the main character, Melinda. When she called the cops on a party last summer, her friends didn't think twice about ditching her before she could even explain what happened. As she goes through the school year, she keeps thinking about that night and how to get her friends back. This isn't your average "My boyfriend dumped me and my friends hate me" book. It goes a lot deeper than that! But you'll have to read it to see how.

I really liked this book because it was really vivid. You could feel the main characters pain when she got raped. I thought it was a great book that everyone should read if they are feeling bad about themselves.

i read this book in my freshman yr of high school and i loved it. a lot of other kids were bored with it and didn't like it. i felt it was a great book with even greater characters. her friends don't like her anymore. books like speak show what real high school is about, not all that good stuff you see on tv. i think everyone should go out and get their copy today.

Since my older sister works for the R.A.A.P (rape assistance and awareness program) in Denver, she tells me a lot about rape. When I picked up this book and found out that the main character is a rape victim I instantly knew that I had to read it. Speak is the BEST book I have ever read. I would rate it a 10 if I could. I don't know if I could go through something like that. I really admire Laurie Halse Anderson for writing about a big issues that not that many authors write about. Since the first time that I picked it up I have read it 4 times and I don't know when I'll stop!!!!!!!
