It takes a lot to give a book the distinction of one of the best books ever written, but Pride and Prejudice has definitely deserved it. The predecessor of the modern romantic comedy, Pride and Prejudice is funny, romantic, and insightful, with some of the best characters ever created in literature.

Elizabeth Bennet is shunned by the rich and proud Mr. Darcy on the first day of his being in town, and thus she swears that he is the last man on earth she would ever marry. It's too bad that she can't avoid him, however, for her older sister Jane has fallen in love with Darcy's friend Bingley. There are numerous reasons against this marriage of course, namely the difference of their fortunes and the impropriety of the Bennet family.

Elizabeth's dislike of Mr. Darcy is further sharpened by the story of Mr. Wickham, a young, good-looking man who tells a pitiable tale of having his life ruined by Darcy. Unbeknownst to nearly everyone, however, Darcy is struck by Elizabeth's wit and beautiful eyes. He struggles to suppress his feelings for her, but it is futile. But with all these misconceptions of one another's characters going on, not to mention that they move in different spheres, how can there ever be a happy ending?

Austen uses a lot of difficult wording, but they really contribute to the wit of this book. The characters are memorable, and nearly every girl wants to meet a Mr. Darcy. Excellent books make you care for the characters, and Pride and Prejudice will make you wish you were living in Lizzie's time.

Pride and Prejudice revolves around a family made up of five girls and their parents. Their mom is basically a gold-digger who wants her daughters to marry. If they do marry, the mother desires her girls to marry rich men. The story is centered around Elizabeth who is the second-eldest and is very independent. She meets a man named Mr. Darcy who she half-likes and half-hates. There are other happenings in the story, too, but they take too long to explain. But this book is still one of the better books I have read.

I grew up watching the five hour A&E movie adaptation of this book. My childhood would have been incomplete without the neverending questions of why Mr.Darcy was thought proud, why the Bennet girls couldnt inherit the estate, and why Lizzie refused Mr. Darcy at first. Slowly as i grew older i began to grasp and truly adore the story. However, i loved it even more once i read the book. The plot revolves around young, determined Lizzie Bennet, the second of five sisters. When Lizzie meets Mr.Darcy she is sure that she has never met a man so proud or haughty. However, as the story continues her feelings change quite drastically. One of the best things about the story is the humour. I laughed out loud numerous times and i read it again and again. READ THIS!

This book was so good. It was a different kind of love stroy, a love hate sort of relationship, but you can't help but fall in love with rude, aloways serious Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth, a girl with opinions and is not afraid to speak her mind is being pushed to be married. At first she was proposed to by the unpleasant man who posed a threat to take their family house, but refused. She and her mother than focused on getting her sister off and in love with Mr. Darcy's friend, and soon, though after much betrayal and arguments, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth allowed themselves to be true to each other, fell in love. This was SOOOO good!! I loved it!

I absolutely was engrossed in this book. Elizabeth is so intelligent, and yet naive. Mr. Darcy is so unflinchingly honest, even when it hurts, and stubborn. You figure they will end up together, but it doesn't come without a lot of misunderstandings and some acceptance. This book is more than just a simple love story. It reminds us to love the person, not the rank or public opinion of them. A definate worthy read!

This book show pure and simple love in its beginning stages if development. The relation of jane and mr.bingley shows that sometime a relationship just works. The relationship between elizabeth ad mr.darcy is unchartered waters that seem very dangerous to elizabeth, and when she finds out about some of the things that m.dracy has done she write him off as a jerk without even finding out from him what really and truely happened.

Pride and Prejudice is one of the most awesome boooks ever on earth.
The main character Elizabeth Bennent is a stong headed girl and takes orders from no one except herself. At a ball she meets the handsome Mr.Darcy whom everybody claims is a stuck up man. Elizabeth swears that she will never marry him and will loathe him for all eternity. But as their lives get enterwined in an unexpected adventures the very same person she swore to loathe for all enternity she cannot resisit.

Pride and Prejudice is a very well written book by Jane Austen.
A joy from start to finish. You may not be able to put it down.

Reading this book is like coming home to an old friend. It never fails to delight me. I also never fail to find something new in the story each time I read it, some little nuance or statement that I failed to see before that makes the characters all the more real to me. I love this book.
