PARKER GROWS A GARDEN is a cute early reader with a new story featuring Parker Curry. Parker is visiting her Nana and amazed by the garden her grandmother has grown. She decides to grow her own, planting tulips and some veggies that she watches slowly grow along with her siblings. At the end, she has her Nana and Mom Mom over for a meal, where they all enjoy the cucumbers she has grown as well as the lovely tulips.

What I loved: This is a simple and sweet story that will work well for early independent readers and/or as a read-aloud for readers who are beginning their independent journey. Large, clear font and simple sentences will really aid with this along the way. The plot is quite simple but shows how hard work can create food and a lovely garden as well as the joy of sharing with family, in this case primarily her siblings and grandmothers.

The illustrations are lush and lovely, bringing the characters to life. While her siblings are not really named in this story, fans of Parker will recognize them from other stories, making this a good pick for children who are already fans but want something new to read and explore.

Final verdict: PARKER GROWS A GARDEN is a sweet and simple early reader that will work well for Parker Curry fans.
