MY FIRST LIFT-THE-FLAP NURSERY RHYMES is a charming board book collection of common childhood songs. Each page features the lyrics to a different nursery rhyme, including Hickory Dickory Dock, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and 12 others, along with a colorful image and a flap or two to lift for more images. The book also has a QR code that can be scanned for audio of the music.

What I loved: This is a cute and colorful collection that will work best for young toddlers. These songs cover all the basics that most folks would think of when considering nursery rhymes. Caregivers will know the melodies for most and can sing them to little ones, but there is also the handy online music that could be played in addition to or instead of singing them out loud. The flaps throughout hide images but not words, making them some children can enjoy exploring on their own.

The font is very clear and easy to read throughout. With recognizable rhymes and detailed and colorful images, this is one that will appeal to the youngest of readers just beginning to hear nursery rhymes. As such, this would work best for older infants through toddlers.

What left me wanting more: The flaps are cardstock thickness and glued on top of the page, so could be easy to tear by eager readers. That being said, they have images behind them that can still be enjoyed even if the flaps are no longer present. As another small thing, a couple of the nursery rhymes have word changes from what most caregivers would know. For instance, the wheels on the bus don't go around and around 'all through the town,' but rather 'all day long.'

Final verdict: Colorful images and recognizable rhymes make MY FIRST LIFT-THE-FLAP NURSERY RHYMES a delightful pick for older infants and young toddlers.
