Introducing an exciting, multi-sensory board book series written by Camilla Reid, with illustrations from acclaimed collage artist Clare Youngs!

Preschoolers will adore Clare Youngs’ friendly animals with their high-contrast collage artwork, decorative foil highlights, and signature animal noises—but there’s a tiny creature to find behind each tuggable felt flap, too! In this book, you’ll meet Squeak Squeak Mouse, Munch Munch Squirrel, Ribbit Ribbit Frog, and Hoot Hoot Owl himself. With a final "recap" page of animal noises, and the question, “But what noise do YOU make?”, little readers will enjoy lifting the last flap and saying "hello" to themselves in the surprise mirror!

Visually gorgeous and with a genuinely engaging hide-and-seek narrative, this is a stunning new series from the author behind the bestselling children's series Felt Flaps, Pip and Posy, Bizzy Bear, and Peekaboo.

Also available: Look, It’s Moo Moo Cow, Look, It's a Roar Roar Lion, and Look, It's a Woof Woof Dog.

LOOK, IT'S HOOT HOOT OWL is a fun and engaging lift-the-flap board book. Each page features an animal with shiny foil designs and a flap to lift to find a bug. The end of the book brings them all together with their sounds along with a flap that is covering a mirror for little ones to see themselves.

What I loved: The images are very cool with a focus on the described animal. The illustrations have a texture to them that adds visual interest along with the shiny foil, giving little ones lots to explore. The felt flaps add something fun to touch to each page spread, with shapes that go along with each illustration, such as leaves or a flower. These lift to find a bug, adding to the animal identification fun.

The repetitive text works well for little ones who are just beginning to understand. Along with the flaps and board book format, this works well for older infants and young toddlers. It is easy to read aloud and reinforces the animal sounds at the end of the book, perfect for the littlest readers.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the squirrel has the sound of "munch, munch" which goes along with the image of it eating an acorn. However, it does not quite match the other animal sounds which are more recognizable in terms of identification.

Final verdict: LOOK, IT'S HOOT HOOT OWL is an entertaining board book with felt flaps, foil images, and a mirror that babies and young toddlers will be able to really get into.
