Impulse in summary is about these kids  named Tony,Connor,Vanessa.
Who all have one thing in common they all tried to kill themselves.
Now they are in a rehab center for kids like themselves.
To leave need to pass all the levels to get to go home.
Of all the levels the last is the hardest.
This book is about friendship, trust, and love.
With a tragic ending.

This book was absolutly amazing. Basicly the book is about three teens who almost end there lives and have to go to this mental house.I sill  loved it i loved all three characters, Conner,Tony and Vanessa. But if you want to get Techical they all meet in aspen spring, I think thats what it called, any ways they get to know each other and they explained to each other why there, there. In the end one of them finally meets there goal and goes over the edge. I really and truely recomment this to any who likes ellen hopkins book or are trying to choose a really good book and they want to read quickly.

This book was great from the start. It had a great entrance and amazingly shocking ending. It always kept you on your toes as it gave you a little information at a time but just enough to keep you wanting more. At the first look of the size of the book, it looks like a lot but it's so good, you'll be done within days.

The book Impulse by Ellen Hopkins is a very discriptive book. I would recommend it for teens because of what it is about.

Impulse jumps from story to story giving different peoples Ideas. It is about Three teens that are put into a hospital place for pshycos to live. Tony's painful childhood memories can be quelled only through pills. Vanessa has a secret that keeps her coming back to the blade.  and Connor seems to have the perfect life on the outside but his inward battle with his parents. his peers, and himself give him one last choice, to pull the trigger.

These are three lives that would have been cut short if not for the hasty intervention by loved ones.  Or fate. they are given a second chance at a better life, Only if they help on another and find the strength to let go of their inner demons, for good.

Impulse is about 3 troubled teenagers who come together after they each try to commit suicide.  They meet in the "loony bin" and form a bond with eachother.  Conner, who tried to commit suicide by shooting himself because he has performance parents.  They insist he get good grades, do good in sports, and are pretty emotionally cold.  They don't show alot of love of warmth and Conner can't remember his mom ever touching or kissing him with love.  They seem more interested in what he can do, and not who he is.
Vanessa, who lives with her grandmother because her mom is bipolar, she talks to her angel.  She cuts herself to feel relief and decides one day to end her life with a cut.  Her little brother comes in and sees her and her grandmother rushes her off.  Her father is pretty absent, as he is in the army and she feels his absence strongly.
Tony, who thinks he's gay, and has been through alot.  His mother is an addict and has a line of boyfriends.  Tony has only had one friend, and that friend died from aids.  He tries to commit suicide by taking a bottle of valium.
They all meet at the treatment center and sense in eachother a bond.  They become close friends and throughout the story you feel like you know where it's going, but it has surprise twists.  The ending feels a little rushed and you don't get the full impact of the sense of what the author is trying to portray, but you do understand why things happen in the book and it is a good book for teens.

This book by Ellen Hopkins was the worst of hers. I have loved all of her other books, but this was disappointing. I think that it was hard to follow, because it had three different point of views. You never really got to know the characters that well. Once you started to learn facts about their lives then she would change to another character. Basically the three teens were in a rehab place for various problems. At the end they all take a camping trip and the end is really sad. I would not reccommend the book, but read it and decide for yourself

This book was so amazing, the detail, even thought at first i didn't like the way it was written it made it better that way.

Conner was my fav, I liked Tony tell he got all lovey dovy with Vannessa, same goes with Vanessa.

I still think that Conner and Vannessa should have gotten together. Tony didn't need much saving, Conner needed it.

Though at the end, it didn't clearly say that Conner was dead, it just said that they THOUGHT he was dead. They hadn't taken him to the hospital yet.

Besides the ending i loved it!

Three lives, three different paths to the same destination: Aspen Springs, a psychiatric hospital for those who have attempted the ultimate act -- suicide.

Vanessa is beautiful and smart, but her secrets keep her answering the call of the blade.

Tony, after suffering a painful childhood, can only find peace through pills.

And Conner, outwardly, has the perfect life. But dig a little deeper and find a boy who is in constant battle with his parents, his life, himself.

In one instant each of these young people decided enough was enough. They grabbed the blade, the bottle, the gun -- and tried to end it all. Now they have a second chance, and just maybe, with each other's help, they can find their way to a better life -- but only if they're strong and can fight the demons that brought them here in the first place.
This was a raw, thrilling book. I couldn't put it down. I tried to put it down because it was late and I needed to get up early the next day but I couldn't. I was drawn into the story. The book deals with issues that many teens may have. This is the first book I've read by Ellen Hopkins and it certainly won't be the last. I haven't read a lot of books written in free verse but this book was great. All three characters were connected and the book was so well-written you just couldn't help and care for these characters and wish them well. *Minor Spoiler* I didn't really like the ending because of what happens to one character but I'm glad the other two stayed together. *End of minor spoiler* I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to read an issue book.
