If You See A Bluebird is a story of regained hope for one family that had to leave their war-torn country for a safer life. Ali and his Nana pick blackberries to make jam for his parents to sell at the market. During berry picking Ali reminisces in age-appropriate language and depictions of how much he misses his former home and what it was like to flee with very few of his beloved possessions. His Nana reminds him that they are together and safe and that is what home truly is. Overall, this book raises awareness of refugees in a non-graphic way as well as providing a story for those children in situations often overlooked.
