This book is about Caitlin who tries to handle her sister running away and having a dangerous boyfriend. But can the sarrow of her mother, abuse of a boyfriend, and help of a friend make everything alright?

When I first read this book, it really touched me.The book relates to feelings girls go through at that age. Everything about the book was perfect. Its definately one of my all time favorites.

I found this book absolutely brilliant! It tells the story of Cat and the struggles that she is going through, the main one being her boyfriend, who abuses her. You may think that this book sounds depressing, but seriously, the story is told in an interesting and intriging way. I recommend it to everyone, preferably teenage girls!

The main characters in this book are Rogerson, Caitlin, and Cass. Rogerson is an extremely charismatic bad boy. Caitlin and Cass are sisters, and theyre very close. Cass is a perfect student and very involved in school activities. She always stands up for what she believes in. Caitlin is an average student. She is friends with the popular crowd. Shes not an angel, but she doesnt draw much attention to herself.
Dreamland takes place in the present-day in a suburb in the western U.S.
Caitlins sister, Cass, runs away unexpectedly and without an explanation. Caitlin joins the cheerleading squad. She soon realized that joining cheerleading made her mom put her attention towards that to fill the gap that Cass left. Caitlin meets a guy named Rogerson. Around that time, Cass started making contact with the family again. She was living with her boyfriend, a guy she had met that summer. All of her mothers attention shifts to the contacts with Cass and watching the talk show she works on, hoping to spot her, which happened occasionally. Caitlin falls in love with Rogerson, but he soon becomes abusive. Soon making him happy is the only thing she worries about. She manages to hide the truth until Rogerson beats Caitlin in front of her home while her parents are throwing a party. Rogerson is arrested and Caitlin goes to Evergreen Care Center where she gets counseling. As she heals, her closeness with family and old friends is restored. When she gets home her sister is there to welcome her back.
This book shows you that even if you love someone, if the relationship isnt healthy then you should get out of it.
Dreamland was a very realistic fiction book that was based on being a teenager in an abusive relationship.
I highly recommend this book. I couldnt put it down. You really grow to understand the characters and why Caitlin makes the decisions she does.

The book takes a little while to get into, but once into it, you can't put it down. Sarah Dessen really brings out the characters and draws you into the story. It feels like you are there there with Caitlin and Rogerson. The plot is very realistic, and every page stirs a new emotion. I recommmend Dreamland to everyone who likes realistic fiction and teen situations. :)
