Dougal was a shy little bear with a heart of gold. He never got to play with the other toys in the house because they were all new and clean and perfect and he was not. He often wished he could be new like them...

Then one rainy afternoon, Dougal is left outside and ends up in the garbage bin. How much can a teddy bear? But even though he's down, Dougal is not out. He finds a new life and learns that sometimes bad luck can be your best friend.

Dougal the Garbage Dump Bear is one of the most lovely and funny childrens books I have found for my son.  He still loves it and he is now 9. My cynical daughter of 12 (11 when I bought the book)  also loved it. I am glad Matt Dray no longer works at the dump as he is an inspired author/photographer who hopefully now has more time to write more books! (really enjoyed the pub photos and the morning after ones as well)!

This book is about a bear called Dougal  who lives a sad life. He gets thrown in the rubbish bin and ends up at the dump. This book is full of Dougal's adventures as his life gets better.

At the beginning of this exciting book, Dougal is neglected by his owner. He gets left out in the pouring rain and is thrown into the bin. He finds himself at a very smelly dunp.

During his time at the dump, Dougal meets a bee called Bumble. They have many interesting adventures. They eat yummy food, feed the ducks and drink too many Ginger Beers.

At the end of this funny book, Dougal and his friends leave the dump and go to live in a house by the sea. Dougal learns that sometimes bad things happen so that good things can happen.

We loved this great book because the funny photographs made us laugh. Our favourite part was when Dougal met Bumble because he is a very funny and silly character.

We recommend this book to everyone because it is great and it has a lovely ending.

I read this book to my 8 year old son and I have never laughed so much. The overall moral or the story I got but to my son he wanted to know if the writter was drunk or something because the story was crazy. Oh well you cannot win them all and by the way when i read it to the 8 and 10 year olds they said matt was seriously disturbed

Dougal the Dump Bear is a great children's read about a teddy bear found by the author while working at a dump on the Gold Coast. The story is told using fabulous photo's the author has taken himself. Dougal meets up with Bumble the Bee and the story unfolds - must not give too much away. See for yourself- Bee not afraid. My children are 9,8,& 6 years old and Dougal has won their hearts along with author Matt Dray who we got to meet at the Whitsunday Voices Literature Festival in Mackay recently. Thank you for a Bee-autiful experience.

Dougal was a shy little bear who lived with a little girl. One afternoon, after the animals had tea, the girl left Dougal out in the rain and rescued her new toys first. The next day, Dougal took a ride to the dump where he made lots of friends and had a great life. One day, the Big Boss came and said the animals had to leave the dump. They took a ride in a truck and moved to a house on the beach...with a trampoline, a toy motorbike, pails and shovels, a swing set and a climbing castle.

Based on a true story with photos taken by the author--who found Dougal at the dump. This heartwarming story teaches us that sometimes bad luck can be the best luck of all. An adorable book with detailed photographs of Dougal and his friends, told in scrapbook style.
