Welcome, everyone, to another great cover reveal!

Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE DARKEST CORNERS by Kara Thomas, releasing April 19, 2016 from Delacorte/Penguin Random House. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Kara and Krista Marino, her editor:

Kara Thomas:

Hi, YABC readers! I’m beyond excited to share the cover of THE DARKEST CORNERS with you! Since there is so much going on in this book– childhood secrets, false memory syndrome, missing girls, serial killers (my poor editor!)—I had no idea what to expect from the cover. Delacorte and jacket designer Greg Stadnyk really knocked it out of the park! I think the girl’s haunted expression and the creepy torn newsprint style perfectly capture the tone of the book.

Krista Marino:

Hello, from Kara Thomas’s lucky editor!

We went down a lot of different avenues, and actually had multiple designers working on concepts at the same time before we finally came to this cover. When we saw Greg’s design we all knew that he’d nailed it. There’s so much more than meets the eye in The Darkest Corners, and Greg understood that. It was important to us that this book got a cover as interesting and compelling as what was inside. In my mind we succeeded. Don’t you just want to know what this girl’s story is and why her image is torn apart?

About the Book

There are ghosts around every corner in Fayette, Pennsylvania. Tessa left when she was nine and has been trying ever since not to think about it after what happened that last summer. Memories of things so dark will burn themselves into your mind if you let them.

Callie never left. She moved to another house, so she doesn’t have to walk those same halls, but then Callie always was the stronger one. She can handle staring into the face of her demons–and if she parties hard enough, maybe one day they’ll disappear for good.

Tessa and Callie haven’t talked about what they saw that summer night since it happened. After the trial Callie drifted and Tessa moved and childhood friends just have a way of losing touch. But ever since she left, Tessa’s had questions. Things have never quite added up. And now she has to go back to Fayette–to Wyatt Stokes sitting on death row; to Lori Cawley, Callie’s dead cousin; and to the only other person who may be hiding the truth.

Only the closer Tessa gets to the truth, the closer she gets to a killer–and this time, it won’t be as easy to run away.
