Okay, so, Alex is a normal fourteen year old. He goes to school, and does completely normal stuff. At least, until his Uncle Ian is reported dead, from a car accident. They say he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, which just doesn't make sense because Ian was always CRAZY about seatbelts. So Alex Rider goes to investigate, and discovers the police were lying. Bullet holes spray the side of the car. After nearly getting crushed, he meets MI6, and discovers that his Uncle wasn't actually a banker, in fact, he was a spy.

I didn't really like how the MI6 blackmailed him into joining them, but I guess if they hadn't, Alex wouldn't have got to do all the fun stuff that happens later in the book. I mean, why would he pass up the chance of being a spy? I definitely wouldn't, but I suppose there's all the killing to consider...

So anyway, after joining the MI6, after 11 days of grueling training, he is sent on a mission (I know right, send a fourteen year old on something that adults usually spend years training for) to investigate on a project called Stormbreaker. It's basically where this guy called Herod Sayle is about to release hundreds of awesome computers to schools all around England, for FREE. Sounds too good to be true, right? Alex discovers that it is, and gets all tangled up in an evil plot where he nearly gets run over by a quad bike, has his tongue cut out by a terrifyingly hideous man, killed by a jellyfish, falls off a cliff, gets shot, gets killed by viruses, and mashed up by an airplane (the key word here is NEARLY)

I think Alex could have been a bit more developed. Sure, you got to know that he was athletic, good at snooker and karate, parentless, and claustrophobic. But still. I would have liked it if Anthony Horowitz just made him a little more 3D.

Neverthless, this is an awesome book about thrilling mystery, action, fighting, spies and the rest of it. Definitely something that you should try. I definitely recommend it, but maybe don't read it if you are put off by the whole shooting/killing/horrible guys who have disgusting scars.

A mysterious thriller that takes place in top secret investigation.

There was this kid named Alex Rider he lived with his uncle and a maid. His uncle died in a car accident. Alex gets a little suspicious when he sees bullet holes in his uncles car.

Alex goes on an adventure to investigate his uncles death. He ends up in his office but the door was locked. Alex goes into the next office and sees that the only way over there is to swing from a flag pole and jump into his office. That is one crazy dude! When he got into the office Alex was rifling through all of his uncles files. Alex puled one file out and it said Top Secret on the cover. Alex quickly opened it up and it said that his uncle was a top secret agent for MI6. Alex was shocked.

He called the agency and they let alex be a secret spy. he had to finish the mission that the uncle started it was to destroy this computer. Will he destroy it or will he get killed find out in the book StormBreaker.

The book was really detailed and had a lot of cliff hangers it was a well thought out book. The way all the scenes went together. I would recommend the book to young adults that love action and thriller books plus a lot of suspense.HX

Alex's adventures remind me of the Hardy Boys and how I felt when I read them for the first time as a teenager. Sure, it's not great literature, but it's fun, easy and captivating. I will definitely read the rest of them.

It was also the first book I finished on iPhone's Kindle and I must say, it is a great way to read this type of book.

The beginning of a super cool series about teen spy Alex Rider. I reall thought this series, like Artemis Fowl would ened on the third book, but it didn't. There's a fourth one, but it sits in my bookshelf waiting to see if I'll take it out and finish it or not. The series is not boring, at all, I'm just lazy. Stormbreaker was awesome, although being completely orphaned is not something any teen spy wants.

The only way to describe this book is Absolutely Fabulous.

This book is the first in the Alex Rider series. Once you put it down again you will imediately pick it back up.

It talks about how spy work isn't all gadgets (although in this they do have a few).It tells about how dangerous it is and alot of the times lethal.

I'd like to start off by saying that this review is from the point of view of a 13 year old girl. You probably won't be interesting in my thoughts if you're older than me.
This book really appealled to me. I love books on espionage and the army so if you're on the same wavelength then you'll also love the style and quality of writing in it.
To sum it up before I get carried away and can't stop writing, Stormbreaker was a freakishly enjoyable book to read. I couldn't put it down! I'm yet to read the rest of the series, but if the rest of his books are as good as Stormbreaker and the first of the Diamond Brother's series of books, then they too will be fantastic achievements on Anthony's behalf.
You simply must read this book as I am sure that alot of hard work has gone into it, you'll be able to tell by the original ideas and the frequent intense passages.
A wonderful, well thought out book. I give it 5 stars, no doubt.

This has got to be one of my absolute favorite series. I love the way Horowitz uses his knowledge and imagination to create such a plot. I love how he takes an adult job and ends up giving it to a kid, a very capable kid at that.
