A Ramadan to Remember is a wonderful book about community, sharing and caring.
Zain moves to a new neighborhood, and is disheartened that Ramadan isn't on the school calendar, there are no community events to celebrate Ramadan, and his family appears to be the only Muslim family in the neighborhood.
Zain creatively uses moving boxes to build his own mosque, which intrigues other kids in the neighborhood. Zain explains the meaning behind Ramadan, especially the sharing and caring aspects to neighbor children who are not Muslim, and also connects with another Muslim family in the neighborhood!

The text is kid friendly and the bright illustrations show a diverse group of characters with different skin tones, ages, and clothing. Islamic terms are interwoven throughout the book in a way that makes it easy for children to understand the concepts.

The back matter gives more details about Ramadan and its importance around the world as well as definitions, foods, and craft suggestions. This is a wonderful introduction to the important holiday of Ramadan, other religions, and perfect for our homeschool library!
