The heart is our most vital organ because it does so much for the body from the moment you take your first breath. There are many words that can be used to describe the heart. In this one, it's viewed as singular and cooperative, simple and complex, energetic and relaxed, constant and changeable, electric and muscular, hidden and noticeable, and selfish and selfless. It needs this diversity to do the things it needs to do.

YOUR ONE AND ONLY HEART is a nonfiction picture book that uses poetry to educate children about the heart. The illustrations are detailed with vibrant red coloring and the descriptive words stand out in a different and bold color. In the back of the book there are more heart facts for children to expand on. The words that make up the poems are lyrical and simple which helps younger children comprehend it. There's so much in this picture book and I love the format of the pictures and text. The layout makes it easy to follow and there's always something interesting to look at.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children aged six and up who are curious about anatomy. It's a great tool to teach children about how incredible the heart is and the poetic side of it makes the concepts easier to understand.
