I was looking for something to inspire my class of 9th graders into exploring books and came across Claire Chilton's Whatever Became of the Squishies on Amazon. It's a great book to keep their attention with, lots of action and funny quips and they really seemed to enjoy the 'breaking all the rules' main character of the book.

From a teaching point of view I've found it really helpful in getting the kids to look at issues like racism in the book and stereotyping, and they've actually enjoyed the experience.

I'd recommend this book as a teaching aid and as an addictive read for those who enjoy popular teen fiction.

The novel is science fiction/fantasy, with lots of humour, actions scenes and the first in a series from what I can tell.

So yes bravo to Miss Chilton, a great new book.
