THE WORLD IS A FAMILY is a beautifully illustrated book with a song/poem about how we are all connected. The story seems to be written as a song with a recurring refrain about how the world is a family. The pages in between describe other animals and their joys, such as playing for squirrels and flying for birds.

What I loved: The illustrations are sweeping and beautiful with gorgeous colors, scenes, and lots of interesting details to notice on each page. The rhyming text is pleasing to hear aloud and the gentle messaging works well for bedtime reads. The repetition will appeal to young readers who appreciate recognizable phrases.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, this felt a bit disconnected without a clear story. The organization of it seemed almost like it was intended to be a song, with a lot of repetition that may not work well for older readers.
