this book was great. it was on of the best books i have read since twilight. i am into the more vampire books with make believe characters so you can imagion them the way you want then to be. city of ashes is one of the 3 part series my cassandra clare. when you read it, you are going to want to go out and by the next one right away.

clary fray is a demon-slaying shadowhunter that just got her life turned upside down. she mets jace, also a shadow hunter who teachs her everything she needs to know, but the this is, she is the only one that can see him. but when her mom disapers, it is clarys job to find out what happend to her and to find her. this book loads on the suspence and will leave you craving for more.

i would highly reccomend this book to any person who is in the mood for a good mystery and romance.

This book was breathtaking! I read it on the Pulse It website and loved it!  I wish Jace hadn't turned out to be Clary's brother though... this book needs some romance! It was full of plot twists and turns! I love how the author weaved the fantasy monsters into a believeable storyline, unlike alot of other books. I found myself lost in Jace and Clary's world of Vampires, Werewolves and Shadowhunters.

I will definitely be reading this book again!

I had heard mixed things about this book. When I first started reading
it I was unimpressed because the seeing mythical creature thing is not
very original. But as I started read further into the book I was
pleasantly surprised!

The plot after you got past the first part
was wonderful and kept me captivated. The characters were beautifully
crafted and really seemed real. Even though this is a trilogy I was
sure I knew how the book would end even if I was unsure how I would get
there. I was so surprised when the end came! The book was full of
sarcastic humor and funny dialog mixed in with the serious plot. Good
book after the beginning!

When i first started reading City of Bones; I thought it was going to be another "teen vampire book" like Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. Which don't get me wrong; I enjoyed very much, However they are becoming very overrated. When i first started reading City of Bones; i was kind of iffy about the book. I wasn't too sure if it was something that could grab my attention. By the third chapter, i was so enthralled in the book that i could barely put it down.

Clare kept my interest through drama, suspence, romance, weirwolves, fairies, and shadowhunters. Her portrayal of Clary (Clarissa) Fray was absolutely amazing. I felt that i was in Clary's shoes throughout the whole book, experiencing everything she had first hand.

The book in a nutshell is about 15 year old Clary Fray who watches a boy being murdered in a dance club one night while hanging out with her friend. The bad thing is; she's the only one who seen it. Not that no one seen it; just that no one could see it. The world she had once known was all thrown away the night she meets a "shadowhunter" named Jace. Everything she thought she knew about her life was now just a distant memory. She comes to find out her mother was a shadowhunter, along with her father Valentine. One of the most feared shadownhunters in the clave. Her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, and it is up to Clary and Jace to find her and bring her back safely.

The book is absolutely gripping, from start to finish. Cassandra Clare is an amazing author; and grabs the readers attention. I personally cannot wait to read the second book of the three part series "City of Ashes". I would definetely recommend this book to anyone who loves vampires, demons, fairies, and werewolves. Thumbs up Clare =)

City of Bones is an excellent tale of friendship, loyalty, love and family ties. Clary who has always been raised by her overly protective mother just thought she was an ordinary girl... however ordinary girls do not see invisible people. One night at a club she meets a group of kids who claim to be shadow hunters Jace, Isabell, and Alec. Only to Clary's surprise that no one else was able to see them. This first book in the triology set the stage for an excellent suspensful action packed series. Full of secrets and danger around every corner. The only downfall to this book is the extreme terminology used but it doesn't slow down the reading that much once you are in it.

Clary lives in in a world where everything is normal(or is it) until
she witnesses a murder by 3 teens (with weird rune markings on there
arms) that know one can see. They tell her they killed a demon and not
some normal teen. Clary was pretty freaked out about it but goes home
and sees her mom with packing saying there going on a summer vacation.
Clary gets mad and leaves with her BFF Simon to this poetry lounge.
While there she sees the mysterious guy that killed the demon(who's
name is jace). he leaves and she follows him out. Then she gets a phone
call from her mom telling her to not come home, that he's come back for
her, and tell luke its Valentine. Obviously Clary doesn't listen and
take Jaces demon sense thinking its a cell phoneand goes home. The
Adventure begins........

I Love this book, there's a little love
triangle going on aww.. Clary gets involve in that Dark fantasy
world.Uncovers some of her moms secrets that weren't suppose to be
found out. I love how i could never predict whats going to happen next.
Ever chapter was exiting. Lot of betrayal which i couldn't even
predict, i was always like "OMG" or "what". I was a little disappointed
in the End when it came to Clary and Jace's relationship, but i kind of
looked for some spoilers to see if it was true. happy that its not YAY.
Can't wait to read City Of Ashes!!!
