Ash and Pudd are very serious about their roles as caretakers of the creatures in the woods. For winter, they've readied scarves and seeds for their woodland friends, including the trees. One day, they stumble across something unexpected: a snowman. Together, Ash and Pudd work hard to create something warm and special for their new friend.

THE LITTLE FOREST KEEPERS is a cute, wintery picture book about friendship and teamwork. Ash and Pudd have many friends they take care of, but they make it their mission to not leave anyone out, to make everyone feel welcome and warm.

I love Mary Lundquist's designs for Ash and Pudd. They are the perfect tiny height, and their large red hats made them all the cuter. The soft lines and light colors in the illustrations gave a cozy, snowy tone that will have readers excited to bundle up for winter. At times, the perspective of the drawings was a little confusing, especially when they first encounter the snowman, but overall, the illustrations were simply lovely.

For young readers looking for a winter-themed picture book, THE LITTLE FOREST KEEPERS is an excellent pick. With cozy illustrations and a sweet message, THE LITTLE FOREST KEEPERS feels like a warm hug on a cold night.
