The Hunger Games is another one of those 'Fight-to-the-death' books. Though some may see it as cliche, I do not know one person who dislikes this book.
Enticing and inspirational, it has a great plot and is a genuinely fantastically written book.
With the annual Hunger Games - where youngsters are stuck in a dome and have to fight until one person is left alive - comes Katniss, who volunteers to save her sister and take her place.
The rest of the book will be left to you to read! I always recommend this book to my friends and family. Such a great, gripping story!

I love The Hunger Games and wish the second two books were are good as this one. They're okay, but this one is really great. Katniss is pretty awesome, and so is Peeta. Pretty violent though, but I guess a lot of books are these days. Great story and full of action. I couldn't put this book down!

First off - I loved this book! So many many people have been gushing
about it that honestly, I was afraid I was going to be a little
disappointed. It couldn't be that good, I told myself. I was wrong.
Fabulously written, with a plot line that sucks you in from page one. I
literally could not put this book down until I was finished with every
last fantastic morsel...and then I wanted more! I envy all of you out
there who have snagged ARCs of Chasing Fire! There is so much depth to
this book -- Primitive living conditions set amongst modern technology;
social implications to the indifference to human life; struggle for
survival against the ruling class; the power of manipulation; the power
of both real and imagined love...I could go on and on but instead I'll
say - READ THIS BOOK!
Seriously good - highly recommended - 5 shinning stars

Katniss's life has never been easy. After her father was killed in a deadly mine explosion, her mother turned a blind eye from her and her younger sister Prim who were in need of taking care of. Forced to grow up quickly, Katniss struggled to care for her sister while her mother sat emotionless, struggling to live after the death of her husband. Illegally hunting outside of their small District 12, Katniss and her friend, Gale, hunt for anything that they can eat, or use as trade in order to keep food on the table at home.

But when the Hunger Games rolls around, an annual fight to the death to show that the Capitol is in control, and Prim's name is called to compete, Katniss has no other choice but to volunteer and take her sister's place in the fighting. As the games begin, Katniss finds herself falling for the other tribute from her district, Peeta, the boy who had a making in Katniss's survival as a child. When she is destined to kill him in order to survive, how does love come into play?

A shocking novel with startling realities, "The Hunger Games" will leave readers at the edges of their seats, begging for more. A page turner and a quick read, this novel will leave the reader with a different outlook on their own life.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!  In a good way!!  I just couldn't put it down, read it in two days!  The action is so terrifying yet I couldn't stop reading!  I had to know what happens to Katniss and Peeta.  And the twists are truly amazing!  I can't gush enough about this book, the first in a trilogy!  It is very disturbing, sad, and violent, yet it can be very humorous and romantic.  I had this feeling of dread and terror the whole way through.  I didn't breathe until the final page.  I will not give anything away in this review, just read it for yourself.  I absolutely cannot wait until the next book!

Absoulutly fantastic!!  This book is amazing it takes place in the futer when the government has taken over and instead of states it is all districts, this book is about a girl and her family and when her sister is picked from a drawing that means you will go and fight with other districts and probley die fighting she goes in her place. One boy and one girl is picked from each disrict and turns out the boy who will be fighting is one of her friends! In the end her and her friend are the final two and must fight will each other, one of them might get killed and for what, a years supply of food! Who will die? Will anyone die? Who will win? This book is breathtaking gladiator-like but all around great!

Honestly, I didn't think I would like this book at first. I mean, come on, putting a bunch of kids in an arena to fight to the death? It just sounded so horribly wrong and gruesome, but man was it full of such suspense. The writing was so good that I felt like I was Katniss herself, the main character in the book. I literally could not put the book down. I was even late to work a few times (I like to read when I wake up) because I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. The chapters are like cliffhangers that beg you to keep reading.
Good Points
Vivid details and descriptions made for awesome imagery.

The Hunger Games was an amazing book. It nearly left me speechless. It was obvious that Kat was going to end up in the competition, but i was still mortified when it happened. There wouldnt have been a story if she hadnt been. Before the names were chosen I was sure it would be Katniss and Gale would be chosen, and have to kill one another. But instead it was Peeta. That was a little twist. I never did figure it out. Did Peeta genuinely have a crush on her or not? Whichever, it was an incredible book. I felt so bad when Rue died, but I guess it had to happen. One of the amazing characters had to die, so everyone would feel sympathetic. And Cinna was an awesome character. So creative. I loved the flames on them, and her dress. Haymitch wasnt so bad. He was a drunk, but he knew what he was doing. The Games themselves really pushed the characters to their limits. You need allies to help you. You cant get attached to them, because eventually youve got to kill them, or theyre going to kill you. its a loose- loose situation. You die or your friends die. Or you could do what Peeta and Katniss did, and make it to the final two, and threaten to both commit suicide, and then they would have no winners. They were very smart that way. They took a chance though, because they may not have been stopped in time. This book really made you think, and it was one of the best books Ive read lately.

I had to read this book for school and I thought I would hate it. I don't like scifi or fantasy types of books. I am really glad I had to read this book because this book was possibly the best book I have read all year! From the very beginning I could not put this book down. The story moved so fast! I loved the characters and their names!! I couldn't help feeling like the games were a bit too much like bad reality tv, but I still found myself wanting to see what happened. In class when we had to talk about the book it made the hour go by so fast because a lot of people had something to say and it was really interesting. I still don't like these types of books but I can't wait to read the next two books.
