We thought that the book was very interesting. First, Stargirl moves to a new school and she was unpopular. Then she meets hillari kimble and she joins the cheerleading squad. Then Stargirl becomes very popular and then she was put on the hotseat.  The hotseat is where the hosts ask you a series of questions and you are being video taped while you answer them, and then the whole school watches it. Then Stargirl wins a award for giving speeches. She then goes to a competition in Phoenix Arizona and she wins first place. Overall we thought this book was very interesting. We really think you should read it! You will really like it!

Was, and still is, one of my favorite books. Stargirl is the girl who can appeal to everyone. Whether you're trying to blend in or stand out-- this book can identify with anyone. Beautifully written and worth a read.. or two or three :) Leo was very believable and well-written, just the way he should be. Every school should have a Stargirl out there somewhere, things need to change :)

Stargirl introduces Leo, whose attention is caught by a new girl at school whose name is Stargirl. Stargirl is an eccentric girl who plays the ukulele, wears unusual outfits, and is just...weird.
The students at her new school do not like her unusualness. She is shunned, and tries to fit in. But it becomes clear that fitting in is just not for her.
The story of Stargirl teaches us that we have to be simply be ourselves, and let loose the Stargirl in all of us.

Told from the point of view of Leo Borlock, an aware eleventh grader who looks at things from a distance. He knows how Mica Area High School (MAHS) is not a hotspot for noncomformity nor for school spirit. But everything changes faster than a twist in a mystery novel when Stargirl Caraway comes to town. Pet rats, happy wagons, enchanted places, dancing in the rain, flapper dresses, ukeleles! It is all too much for poor Leo. As Archie from Stargirl says: "... she is one of us. Most decidedly, she is more us than we are us. She is, I think, who we really are. Or were.' I recommend it to everyone. It makes me cry, laugh, and wonder around.

Our host Kimberly recommended STARGIRL to me a couple of months ago, but it was so popular ay my library that I was just able to check it out last week.

Was it ever worth the wait!

STARGIRL is a very fun read, and will stay with you forever in a great way. In other words, read it - no matter who you are - you'll be so glad you did!

Stargirl

I enjoyed the novel "Stargirl" as it showed how people with differences stand out from the crowd. She wouldnt rebell at school work, i wouldnt even call it rebelling. just seeing different sides of things, and taking part in unusual things, she feels unhappy trying to fit in with everybody eles.
Ienjoyed this novel as Stargirl done everything to help anybody else and ended up with no time for herself.
"Look at you. Its satuarday. I've been with you all day, and you've spent the whole day doing stuff for other people"
i find this amazing that someone is willing to give up their weekend to help others.Although sometimes when she tryes to help others she ends up hurting her own side:
" Electrons were not soon to become Arizona state basketball champions, Kevin had been right: when she had started cheering for the other team, she did something bad for her own team."
Perhaps she done this because so many people disliked her and she wanted to hurt them? who knows?
I realy enjoyed this gripping novel. i could not put it down.

This book shaped my childhood. I read it once as a 3rd or 4th grader, and loved it to pieces, but took in little of the deeper meaning. I read it again last year, and kudos to Spinelli- this book is a literary work of art. The characters are well formed and the situations are very realistic. StarGirl is a mysterious, but beautiful, metaphor.

One book the can be read by any age, and love it. It make me cried the first time I read it. It is amazingly written to make you want to be friends with Stargirl and live in the story. Read it in one sitting and then read it again, you will discover something different each time you read it.

I could really identify with the main character as someone who just wanted to fit in at school and yet was just a bit different. If only we didn't always feel like we had to conform, high school might have been more fun. I really enjoyed this book and think that all high school kids should read it.

The book is an ok book if you have nothing else to read. My favorite part was probably when Leo and Stargirl were in the mall and followed people around to see what kind of card they would give them because i just think i could probably have fun doing that. I also thought it was sad when someone threw a tomatoe at Stargirl at the basketball game and when Hillari slapped satrgirl at the Octillo Ball and no one saw Stargirl again. I also thought the ending was kind of odd when Archie went and buried Barnie. I kind of wonder if Stargirl and Leo will ever see each other again. Overall I thought Stargirl was a pretty good book, It was just a little bit to kiddish for me.
