I found this book to be quite depressing acutally. By no means I found it was badly written, but I was kind of expecting something different from it. After I finished reading, I knew what my friends were talking about when they said it would be better to leave the adventures of Bella and Edward at Twilight. I loved the references to Romeo and Juliet though.
The begininng was an extension of Twilight. Then when the "incident" happened,you knew something major was about to happen. When Edward left even though it was to be expected it was a shock. Bella's reaction afterward was a bit high in the melodrama but it still was realistic. The pages that were blank except for the month was quite ingenius. Nothing was written but everything was said. I felt kind of sorry for Jacob because the relationship between he and Bella deepened but did'nt shift in the way he wanted. I think the seemingly physical pain Bella felt is realted to some supernatural power ahe may have. Perhaps it is to be reveled in the next book. When she and Alice were running off to Italy, I was bitting my nails in anticpation. It was welcomed because the greater part of the book was quite deviod of any feelings except sorrow. When they got back together, her reaction was very human. I was surprised that she did not know he loved her though. But one of the most heartbreaking events in the book, is the breakup of her friendship with Jacob. The ending left a lot of questions hanging in the air.
