When a mermaid and a pirate cross paths, they struggle to communicate because they speak two different languages. They meet by chance during a storm when the mermaid tries to help the pirate, but finds herself trapped instead. The two work together so each of them end up safe in the end, and even though they don't understand each other's words, they connect through their emotions to form a bond.

MERMAID AND PIRATE is a children's picture book that explores empathy and connecting with people who may not speak the same language. The illustrations are vibrant and it's easy to see what emotion each character is feeling. Instead of language, the pirate says "Arrgh" and the mermaid says things like "glub glub" and these sounds effects make the story more engaging for younger children.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children who love mermaids and pirates and who are also learning about emotions. This may help them understand their own feelings and discover what empathy is.
