Kid Review: Baby Be by Alison McGhee

About This Book:

Dads of all varieties bounce and groove with their babies, letting them know the best thing they can be is themselves, in this exuberant picture book ode to the joy of fatherhood.

Baby!
High five!
Down low!
You ready?
Let’s go!

Dads got moves! Dads got grooves. From shoulder rides to sleepy time snuggles, dads have their own special relationships with their babies, their own way of showing their great big love for one another, and those beats, those boogies, those moments together will live in their hearts forever.

Joyful Time with Father and Child

BABY BE is a fun story in rhyme about a dad and his young child. Dads can be known as the fun parent, and this book celebrates all the moments big and small of a dad joyfully spending time with his toddler-age child.
The medium of the illustrations had a gritty look that was not my favorite, but the illustrator conveyed the motion and love well. I like the positive representation of fathers being fun and caring with their children.
Overall, this is a sweet book showing off the special bond for moving and grooving together a father and child can have. I particularly like the dance scene when the father says he will show off his flop because as we get older it sure does resemble a flop more than anything else!
