HELLO, FROG is an interactive board book that toddlers are sure to enjoy. The book contains a question for a key animal being featured and then several lift-the-flaps that will reveal other animals and bugs, with one of them including a circle peek-through to lead to the next page. Most spreads also include a touchable item for some textural fun.

What I loved: This is a really interactive board book with minimal text that will allow toddlers to explore on their own. The book includes peek-through circles, flaps, and touchable textures alongside bright colors and plenty of animals and bugs. The last page spread includes a summary of some of the animals and features seen throughout the book along with their names for beginning word recognition. All the pages are full of color with plenty of interest to keep children engaged.

The text on each page is brief, which works well for the youngest attention spans. The large and clear font makes it easy to read aloud. The large board book pages will also work well for little fingers.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the flaps are relatively thin and would be easy for rougher readers to rip. They are cardstock thickness, so they will stand up to regular reading. Additionally, the book asks questions of the animals, but it does not answer them with the flaps as you might expect. For example, it asks the frog, "Where are you going today? Let's look under the lily pads." Instead of answers to where he is going, there are various animals. For children who like answers, there is not a clear flow.

Final verdict: A charming and interactive board book, HELLO, FROG is an enjoyable book that uses flaps, texture, and bright colors to capture young imaginations.
