One day, Granny and Bean take a trip to the beach and won't let anything stop them from having fun. Not even gray clouds or strong winds. Their laughter rings through the air as they walk down the sandy shore. Birds fly overhead and the waves splash water onto their feet, but still they keep on trekking despite the impending rain. They don't leave until the day's end and they've sorted all their shells and a stone.

In GRANNY AND BEAN, the author weaves a poetic tale about the adventures of a Granny and her grandson at the beach. The gray color scheme causes the illustrations to be easy on the eyes which would make it a decent bedtime story. I love how the two have a visible bond and enjoy each other's company. While there isn't a rhyming scheme, the words flow in such a lyrical way that it makes it feel like they do. The text is simple enough for children to follow and relax their minds.

Final Verdict: GRANNY AND BEAN is an endearing tale that grandparents will enjoy sharing with their grandchildren. It's versatile and can either be a bedtime story or a beach time story. I would recommend this to children with an adventure side to them and especially those who loves sandy days that don't necessarily have to be sunny.
