Welcome to the last cover reveal of April!

Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE LAST FAERIE QUEEN by Chelsea Pitcher, releasing November 8, 2015 from Flux/Llewellyn. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Chelsea:

Gather round, young and old, for a story of magic! When my editor and I first discussed the cover for THE LAST FAERIE QUEEN, we each knew one thing: I wanted the cover to feature the faerie princess Elora, and he wanted to use one of Marwane Pallas’ photos (you can see Pallas’ amazing work on the first book in this duology, THE LAST CHANGELING). However, while all of Pallas’ photographs were gorgeous, they only featured blondes and brunettes (and Elora’s hair is noticeably red). I told myself it wasn’t a big deal. The cover would still be beautiful, even if it didn’t feature Elora. But under all of this convincing… my heart hurt. I’d written the first draft of this duology eight years ago. I’d known these characters for a long time. And with Taylor on the cover of the first book, I wanted Elora to have her moment in the sun so badly, I actually started to fantasize that the photographer would go back to the forest and do a new photoshoot just for us.

And then . . . it happened. It turns out, when my publisher reached out to the photographer, asking about a specific photo, that photo wasn’t available anymore. I don’t know if the rights had sold to someone else or if faeries had carried it off into the night. All I know is, when the photographer heard what the character looked like, he took a new photograph just for us. And when I saw it, I cried. It WAS Elora. I hope you love the cover as much as I do!

About the Book

THE LAST FAERIE QUEEN (Book 2 in THE LAST CHANGELING duology)

After risking her life in the mortal world, the faerie princess Elora returns home to incite a revolution. Allied with the Bright Queen, Elora rallies her people for a battle aimed at overthrowing her mother, the Dark Queen, and uniting the divided Faerie realm. While some question their ability to win, Elora senses victory, knowing she has a secret weapon: Taylor, the human boy she loves, and a motley crew of his school friends, each armed with a skill that can turn the tide of the coming battle.

But then Elora’s supporters in the Dark Court turn on her, believing she has forsaken them in favor of humans. When the Dark Queen kidnaps two of her human friends, Elora must mount a daring rescue mission to free them before her mother offers them up as a sacrifice.

I haven’t read the first book in this duology yet, so, correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t faeries supposed to have a more “out-of-this-word” look? I think that the faerie’s face looks a bit more down-to-earth, but maybe that’s just me. Besides that, the cover is simply gorgeous. Also, the synopsis certainly piqued my interest! All in all, I think that this book looks/sounds promising! 🙂

  2. Brooke says:

I love the synopsis. It is very descriptive. It gets you interested without giving too much away, which I find many authors nowadays do. I think it is very important to have a good synopsis to entice readers and this one does just that. I will definitely be purchasing this book

The cover is beautiful, but at the same time to me I feel like it is missing something. I just don’t know what. As for the synopsis it has got a trigger point in my must reads soon. Sounds very intriguing as well. (I have not read the first one either) But over all I think it look and sound like a amazing book to read.
