What Worked:
Looks can be deceiving. I was pleasantly surprised by how thorough the information was on all things that can fly contained in this book. With the title and illustrations on the cover, I expected a simplistic book just naming basic things that fly like airplanes and rockets meant for very young children. This book contains fun facts, detailed diagrams, and extensive examples of aircraft from the basic plane to the SR-71 Blackbird, and much more! It uses actual vocabulary like yaw, pitch, and thrust, but does simplify it so that even fairly young children could grasp the basic concepts. For avid aviator fans, this book is perfect for helping them master advanced knowledge beyond identification while still being easy enough to understand. The illustrations and diagrams were well done. However, the information was so good I think real photographs would have complimented the writing better. I would expect this book to do well with children 4-6 years of age.
