B IS FOR BROWNIES is a cute alphabet book about baking. The little bakers are working together to bake in this clever, rhyming alphabet board book. The end of the book includes a recipe for beginner brownies (only 5 ingredients!) for little bakers to try their hand at a recipe. This seems like a simple one, though it doesn't specify the pan size.
What I loved: This is a clever trip through the alphabet with a theme of baking, filled with rhymes. The rhyming text creates a great rhythm for reading aloud that really rolls off the tongue. The illustrations are simple but quite cute, with varied skin colors for the bakers that is great to see. The anthropomorphized Mitt is also really cute to find throughout.
What left me wanting more: As per most alphabet books, this one struggles with a few letters. The particularly challenging ones are "X is for don't eat yet" and "Z is for Zzzzz" (which is a really common one for Z but does not give that phonetic sound).
Final verdict: With rhyming text and bright colors, B IS FOR BROWNIES is a cute walk through the alphabet around baking. Just don't read this one hungry!
