About the Book

No one knows what happened that morning at River Point. Five boys went hunting. Four came back. The boys won’t say who fired the shot that killed their friend; the evidence shows it could have been any one of them.

Kate Marino’s senior year internship at the District Attorney’s Office isn’t exactly glamorous—more like an excuse to leave school early that looks good on college applications. Then the DA hands her boss, Mr. Stone, the biggest case her small town of Belle Terre has ever seen. The River Point Boys are all anyone can talk about.  Despite their damning toxicology reports the morning of the accident, the DA wants the boys’ case swept under the rug.  He owes his political office to their powerful families.

Kate won’t let that happen. Digging up secrets without revealing her own is a dangerous line to walk; Kate has her own reasons for seeking justice for Grant. As she and Stone investigate—the ageing prosecutor relying on Kate to see and hear what he cannot—she realizes that nothing about the case—or the boys—is what it seems. Grant wasn’t who she thought he was, and neither is Stone’s prime suspect.  As Kate gets dangerously close to the truth, it becomes clear that the early morning accident might not have been an accident at all—and if Kate doesn’t uncover the true killer, more than one life could be on the line…including her own.

The cover is really clever. Love how the boy’s shadows are shown but one has the dear head, becoming the “hunted”. Love it!

The synopsis has my attention already. Sounds really interesting. I’m all excited to find out what happens. I don’t read many mysteries but this one is a must read for me. Can’t wait!

  13. Kara S says:

Until, I read the previous commenter’s insight, I didn’t even notice the particular arrangement of human shadows underneath the bright white mounted hunting trophy that stands out at first glance! Needless to say, it was the synopsis that hooked me regardless of the visuals; however I do enjoy the ominous implications of this particular image now that I observe it closely. It stimulates my interest in the story even more! Cheers, Kara S

What do you think about the cover and synopsis?

“Five Came in. Four Came Out.” Interesting subtitle! Defiantly a cover that stands out for me! I like how the shadow of, what I like to think of are, the boys in story show underneath the deers head, and how the face of the fifth shadow doesn’t show! I think that is supposed to go with, the subtitle, to show that the four, other than the one in the center, were lucky, I suppose. I’m sure this’ll be a great book due to the synopsis!!! I love how it doesn’t reveal much about the characters, but tells us that something holding the four boys back, and it’s either the fact that the fifth boy’s killer is one of them, or that there’s a mystery behind the killer, and it’s defiantly a mystery I want to uncover!

  15. Shannon Mizikoski says:

I am SO excited about this book! The synopsis sounds FABULOUS, and when I saw the cover, I was in love! The color is kind of my favorite, and the simplicity of it- while still being very pertinent- is fabulous!

    interesting cover

This is our story sounds like an exciting read and I love the cover ♡ The blue and white is striking. Thank you

  18. Anonymous says:

The cover and synopsis match are I love the shadows, especially the one “wearing” the deer head. This sounds like a thriller!

  19. Anonymous says:

This cover stands out to me so much! I LOVE that it has this creepy looking all white deer head mounted on a blue wall! The contrast is super eye-catching. Plus, on my Dad’s side of the family, all of the men hunt. We actually have like 4 huge deer head’s mounted in our dining room! Therefore, the hunting link to this story is very interesting to me…and there’s a mystery which makes it THAT much more appealing!!!

  20. Anonymous says:

    Thank you for the opportunity.
The cover is amazing, I love the colour and the shadows, that deer is a bit scary if you keep staring at it but it makes you even more curious about the story.
The synposis is great, it makes you want to read the book right away. ( 5 boys, who like to hunt, em em em 😉 😉 😉 ) can’t be more exciting than this.

  21. Anonymous says:

I like that the fifth shadow is obscured by the deer head. It sounds like a book that will keep you guessing until the very end.

  22. Anonymous says:

I love the cover! The colors are so pretty! The synopsis sounds so good as well. It really sounds interesting.

  23. Anonymous says:

This cover is eerie and perfect. It manages to convey that something is wrong before even reading the synopsis. I love the synopsis, too. It’s beautifully written, tells about the story, but gives nothing away.
