It's Live!! Cover Reveal: A Taste for Monsters by Matthew J. Kirby + Giveaway (US/Can)

Hi, YABCers!

Today we're super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for A TASTE FOR MONSTERS by Matthew J. Kirby, releasing September 27, 2016 from Scholastic. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from Matthew:

Hello to the YABC community! I'm so excited to share the cover of my very first YA novel with you. Until now, I've only written middle grade books, but the idea for A Taste for Monsters has been simmering in my head for six or seven years, and it's pretty incredible to finally see it on the page. I think the amazing team at Scholastic put together a really cool and striking cover. This is a very different kind of book for me, a Victorian ghost story, and I hope you all enjoy it.

About the Book

IT’S LONDON 1888, and Jack the Ripper is terrorizing the people of the city. Evelyn, a young woman disfigured by her dangerous work in a matchstick factory, who has nowhere to go, does not know what to make of her new position as a maid to the Elephant Man in the London Hospital. Evelyn wants to be locked away from the world, like he is, shut in from the filth and dangers of the streets. But in Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man, she finds a gentle kindred who does not recoil from her and who understands her pain. When the murders begin, however, Joseph and Evelyn are haunted nightly by the ghosts of the Ripper’s dead, setting Evelyn on a path to facing her fears and uncovering humanity’s worst nightmares.

A Taste for Monsters is a terrifying and haunting tale of the monstrosity of men and the salvation one may find in the unlikeliest places, from Edgar Award–winning author Matthew J. Kirby.

The cover art is intriguing, and matches the synopsis quite well. A woman hiding herself from the world shrouded in obscurity. I am excited for this read, it sounds like a good murder mystery, and I am a fan of the imagery that Matt puts into his books.

The synopsis sounds so evil, so mysterious, so I-have-to-read-this-only-in-the-daytime book. The cover art is brilliant and also mysterious and evil.

The cover is nice in a creepy way. I really want to read this because I have been interested in Jack the Ripper since I read a Black Butler volume involving the legend. Also I read Clockwork Three by this author and have been looking for more books by him ever since.
