Cunning, witty, and skillful is the manner in which The Giver is written. The Giver opens up new horizons, and another level of thinking. The book has all characteristics of a drama, action, and love story. Jonas, as the main character, has good morals and ethics.

His character intrigues the readers throughout the book. Jonas proves to the readers that he is humane and very much, so is a humanist. Unlike the people of the community he shows that he holds the power of feelings, whether it is love, pain, or fear. The community showed abhorrence to the thought of memories. Even though Jonas abandoned his community, it was shown through courage rather than fear.
The book is well written, but the ending does not correspond with the beginning chapters. The last chapters seem to be rushed and leave the readers in a confused state, causing controversy over the ending. Overall the book is admired and always will be.
