After learning how his powerlessness can be used as a weapon in the world of magic and defeating Nicodemus's plan to overthrow the government, Timothy travels to a war-torn dimension to help the Wurm, fierce magicians and warriors descended from an ancient dragon race. But while covertly gathering information on the age-old feud between the Wurm and the Parliament of Mages. Timothy discovers a very different story--one of peaceful Wurms and a conspiracy led by the Parliament of Mages. But that's not the only problem on Timothy's hands. The mysterious girl he spotted in SkyHaven is the granddaughter of Nicodemus, and she's challenging Leander's right to be Grandmaster of the Order of Alhazred. And despite Nicodemus's death, mages are still disappearing . . . and this time someone is painting Timothy as the villain.

Timothy thought that being the only person in his world without any magical abilities was a curse. But what if it is a blessing in disguise? On one hand, he cannot wield magic; on the other, perhaps he cannot be harmed by spells cast by others.

As he discovers more about his own skills, he also uncovers another dimension. There, he encounters warrior dragons have a war-torn past which is tangled up in that of Arcanum - Timothy's own dimension.

Dragon Secrets, the second in the OutCast quartet by Christopher Golden and Thomas E. Sniegoski, is imaginative and interesting. It picks up where the first book, The Un-Magician, left off. The action in the Wurm world moves the series right along, and the introduction of new characters is smooth, never overshadowing those we met earlier.

I am a bookseller who has seen my fair share of reluctant readers, especially young boys - and I have had a great deal of success with this series, seeing those kids come back into the store, asking me for the next book! OutCast is an inventive series that something that can be enjoyed by all ages, so don't miss out.
