Mind Over Magic: William Rabkin has done an amazing job creating a novel based upon the television series Pysch. He has created his own episode through clever dialogue and the playful arguments between Shawn Spencer and his best friend Burton Guster, Gus, whom he has known for years. Throughout the book you see just how strong the friendship is even in the toughest situations.
Rabkin writes in such a relatable manner that you cant help but laugh at the stupidity of the arguments. I found myself jealous of Shawns ability to deduce and observe. Shawn is able to see what happened before the police even have solid evidence. Although his methods are, for the most part, unconventional, he and Gus are always able to solve the mystery.
Shawn and Gus are recruited by an elitist magicians manager to discover the identity of a corpse that appeared in place of the magician. They are also hired to discover what has happened to Ptol Pkah, the magician who had vanished. The story unfolds in a series of plot twists and adventures and is definitely worth reading.
