Dig in and get comfy, because you and Stanley arent going anywhere for 18 months. Watch out for the yellow-spotted lizards, and most of all the Warden. Dig a hole everyday, five feet wide and five feet deep, oh, and dont forget to wear sun block.

Meet Stanley Yelnats IV, an average everyday 13 year-old with a big problem. A curse has been past down through every generation of the Yelnats family, a curse caused by Stanleys no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather. Meet his companions: X-ray, Armpit, Squid, Zigzag, Magnet, and my favourite character Zero.

This is a wonderful book. Once you start you wont be able to put it down. It is a hilarious yet heart warming tale of an everlasting friendship.

i didnt think i would like this book. i mean who in the world would like to read a book that has to do with boring, old, holes? thats what i though before i actually picked up the book and started reading it.

holes is about a boy with the name on stanley yelnats. as you can see, his last name is the backyard spelling of his frirst name stanley, making him a little more interesting than he should be. stanley and his family live in an apartment. his dad is a shoe-maker/fixer and im really not sure what his mom does. but thats besideds the point. this book tells about the bad luck(all thanks to stanleys no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather)and adventures of stanley at camp green lake after he is sentenced there because he is accused of stealing a pair of shoes. it was either jail or camp green lake and because stanley had never been to camp before and it had such a lovely name his parents decided to send him there.

this is a hilarious, hearth thoucinh book and i would recomend it to kids and parents of all ages.

Fate meet Karma. Karma meet Fate. Oh, I see you've already met. At Camp Green Lake... Bunkmates no less... Go figure.

Meet Stanley, and his no-good-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfater. Take a journey to Camp Green Lake and see just how much character you can build digging holes. Why holes? Why here? Keep reading, you'll see. *winks*

Louis Sachar hit a home run with this tale. Heartfelt and yet still full of humor, this book pulls you in and doesn't let go. A true modern Must-Read!

Andrew Clements, you've done it again!! I loved this book, just like every other Clements book. The movie version of it made me appreciate it even more! Two thumbs up. I loved the characters like the Warden and Mr.Sir, GREAT JOB!!! Stanley's friendship with Zero was a very lucky coincedence that broke his family's curse and made for one happy ending!! Another applaud!!!

i read the book and sort of found it ironic that this family was cursed by a gypsy and then stanley yelnats just gets rid of hte curse by being kindto zero. that was really cool. adn if you've read the book you should go see the movie it matches up with the book very closely.

Holes and Foal in the Fog are the two best books I have ever read. Holes is an awsome book. I could not get my eyes off it. I keeps me wondering. I was reading it in study hall and b4 I knew it, study hall was over;the proble, I could not take my eyes off it. Let's just say that the teacher did not really appreciate me reading during her history lesson...But this book is so good. It is actually EVEN BETTER than the movie. It is a must for people of all ages. My teacher did not blame me though 4 reading it. She loves it to and ACTUALLY let me read it during her lesson! She told me I could read it to the next chapter then she would strat the lesson!:) how cool
