My teacher made us read this in 6th grade Reading class. I myself thought it was going to be some boring guy book but boy was I wrong.

I liked the flashbacks back to Kate. She is a great charactor even now, one of my favs.

I liked Zero too, he was cool. I never would have thought he was that old lady's grandkid. That is what surprised me the most, and the onion thing too.

I loved the movie, just as much as the book.

Fate meet Karma. Karma meet Fate. Oh, I see you've already met. At Camp Green Lake... Bunkmates no less... Go figure.

Meet Stanley, and his no-good-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfater. Take a journey to Camp Green Lake and see just how much character you can build digging holes. Why holes? Why here? Keep reading, you'll see. *winks*

Louis Sachar hit a home run with this tale. Heartfelt and yet still full of humor, this book pulls you in and doesn't let go. A true modern Must-Read!

If you havent read Louis Sachars excellent novel Holes yet, do so before the movie comes out later this month. This Newberry Medal-winning story is a great read, and like most great books, has the potential for becoming either a great movie along the lines of Tuck Everlasting or the Harry Potter films, or it could rank up there with some of the all-time great book-to-movie disasters.

Stanley Yelnats, the protagonist of Holes, believes that he has been cursed because of his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great great grandfather. That certainly seems to be true after he is falsley accused and convicted of stealing a famous baseball players shoes and sent to Camp Green Lake, where teenage inmates spend each day digging a hole six feet wide and six feet deep. Stanley is told that digging holes builds character, but he soon discovers they are really digging because the warden wants them to find something.

Holes is a funny book full of mystery and wonderful characters. If the movie is half as good as the novel, it will one day be regarded as a classic.

Holes is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats whose whole family is cursed. Stanley happens to be in the wrong place at the wreong time and suddenly ends up at a camp for juvenile delinquents where they dig holes all day. But there is a strange story behind the Yelnats family curse that is somehow connected to the warden of the camp and a boy named Zero, who is also at the camp.

Holes was a really good book, it had a great plot and was overall fun to read. I liked the ending and the whole story behind the Yelnats curse.

First of all, the characters in this book are sadly fugitives. The main character Stanley Yelnats the third or his nickname ''caveman'', was caught with stolen shoes. He was going to be sent to prison or go to Camp Greenlake. The people at camp Greenlake are the fugitives x-ray, magnet, and armpit are the most important characters when Stanley gets there but after a few months he meets zero.He is important because he is the one that STOLE THE SHOES.When he herd sirens coming he got scared and through the shoes over the high way walking under it Stanley who got struck by the shoes. He was sent to greenlake not zero. But zero was caught.THIS BOOK IS A THRILLER FROM BEGINNING TO END.

The book holes was very interesting.I liked it because you didn't know what was going to happen next.If they were going to get bitten by a yellow spotted lizard or a rattle snake or if they were going to find the YELNATS treasure chest with vaulble papers, jewels, gold, and silver. And my two favorate parts was when Stanly stole the water truck and when he and Zero found the treasure chest.

I read this book in third grade, before the movie came out. The book is really good. It's about this boy named Stanley Yelnats, who was forced to go to a "camp" because he was convicted of stealing a pair of shoes that were donated to charity by a celebrity. Stanley didn't take the shoes, and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but by going to camp he is able to learn more about his family's history and past. He also learns about 'Kissing Kate Barlow', and why digging holes builds character.

As I said, it's really good. The book is meant for all ages. No matter if you're 10 or 20. The story is unique and genuine and worth the time to read it. The author is descriptive and by the end of the book it will feel like you, as the reader, personally knows Zero and Stanley.
