this is no ordinary fairytale.
yes it has all the familar elements:loveable female lead, ugly step sisters, a fairy god mother and a prince charming.
yet even as it is told in true cinderella style it has a modern feel to it. no it doesn't take place in today's world and you proberbly can't find magic glass slippers in reality, but the writer expresses real emotions that fairytales lack. emotions that the reader can relate to .
my fav part of this book was the ending, but i won't give it away. it was definitly one of my fav books i read this year.

There Ella makes her first good friend and has to stuggle with fufilling the commands of everyone even though they do not know about the curse. After Ella escapes from there she meets orgres. elves, faires and giants as well as remeeting the prince.
This remakeis of Cinderella is funny and enjoyable. I reccomend this to everyone.

Have you read this book? If you answered no, get off your chair and walk straight to the nearest bookstore and BUY it!!!

Why? This book is awesome! Who ever thought that obedience could turn into a never-ending curse? Who ever thought that there could be MORE mean stepmothers and stepsisters? Who ever thought that there would be such things as friendly elves, and fun giants?

Gail Levine tells of an extraordinary journey, starting just like any 'ole fairy tale. I congratulate the author on such a fine job!

Reccommended.

I first read Ella Enchanted when I was about 12. It was my favorite book for quite a while. So I was really excited when I found out that a movie was coming out. Until I saw the trailer. I can't believe Gail sold out, because now it will be remembered for that awful girly movie instead of the great book.

Anyway, back to the book. It's another modern Cinderella story, and the best one I've read so far. I'd highly recommend it to female readers aged 11+, because I don't think boys would really get into it!

I think all teenage girls would love it. Don't get put off by the movie, the book is brilliant!

Ella is cursed at birth with a gift of obedience by a fairy called Lucinda.
On her 6th birthday she and her mother and cook Mandy notices when she keeps on stuffing cake in her mouth when Mandy orders her to eat.
When she is 15 her mother dies and Mandy reveals herself as Ella's fairy godmother.
At the funeral Ella meets Prince Charmont who says "Call me Char."

Find out for yourself what happens next in Ella's life by reading it.I would recommend this book to 11 years upwards.

This book it a mixture of pretty much all the fairtales out there. It is a great read. The characters aren't your typical fairtale make. The book is different, but exiciting and funny. I enjoyed it a lot.

This is a book about a girl in medieval times under an "irreversible" spell to do any command. This is a great read for young girls in need of some encouragement. It really shows what persistance and determination can bring. It is a family read so mothers and fathers won't mind reading it to their kids. I encourage you to read this book, it is enthralling from cover to cover.
