Earth-Shattering Events by Robin Jacobs is a wonderfully thought-out book that details different natural disasters: what they are, how we can prepare for them, and what to do if you find yourself caught in the middle of one. I was thoroughly impressed with the amount of detail and information that is in this book! While its intended audience is kids, adults will enjoy this one as well and may even learn a thing or two. Divided into two main sections, geological and meteorological disasters, Jacobs first explains what causes the event. Many examples are given for the different types, like the many different forms a tornado can take. Each is drawn in detail for your visual learners. Then specific examples are given, along with what made them earth-shattering. To conclude, the author gives the reader ways to prepare for these events and what to do if they find themselves participating in one. I highly recommend this one be added to your home library as children will love learning about these natural disasters, especially the ones that effect them.
