This book hooked me from the first page. From the happier moments to the terribly sad moments, I couldn't stop reading. At times I did want to throw the book due to the frustrating moments, but in the end, I just didn't want to put the book down. These characters made their way into my heart.
Good Points
The way the characters are made makes this book an A+. Finch is the perfect example of someone trying to find who he is and how to do all the things he can before he goes to find the other side. Finch portrays depression very well. This book is something to read when you are down because in a way this book can help you back up. This book is one to read when you are happy because Finch can make you even happier.

Loved this story. Writing in duel point of views, Jennifer Niven tells the story from a boy who struggles with mental illness and the girl who doesn't want to fall in love with him. Although the subject of this YA contemporary is a difficult one to discuss, it is one that is not often discussed enough. Oddly enough the week I finished All The Bright Places, a similar tragedy struck my sons' high school so this story really hit home for me.

I don't like to cry, but this one had me in tears. This ending was fairly predictable, but I kept rooting for something to change the course of Finch's life.

I commend Jennifer for tackling such a tough subject.

All the Bright Places is made me ponder about some new things I hadn't thought about before, but I wasn't that attached to the characters. I didn't cry at all, not even a sniffle and I feel like if I was actually into this book, I should be huddled on the floor surrounded by piles of tissues. I liked the idea of going to discover the wonders of Indiana and it was interesting seeing where Violet and Finch ended up, but that sadly wasn't the whole book. It was a 'lovely' book but not something that struck me as anything special.
