This book is really good. My mother read it to me when I was little, and I loved it so much I had to read it again by myself. It makes me want to be a princess. Its a really good book for all ages.

I really enjoyed reading A Little Princess as a pre-teen, and I was reminded of the story's great quality when I found an old copy in my garage and reread it. The story has a sort of familiar theme to it, main character goes from rags to riches and back again, yet a very original plot. The way Sarah Crewe was treated by Ermangarde and the others at the school she attended after her father died was so strange to her and was almost cruel, but the way she handled it seemed very cool to me when I was little. As her room was described in the book, I could just imagine how magnificent it was in my mind. Then, suddenly, Sarah wasn't allowed in the room and was forced to wear a small dull dress and serve her former school mates. The small adventures of sorts she had with her new friend, the servant girl Lottie were kinds I dreamed of, I've always wanted to live in some other previous time period.

Sara Crewe is a rich girl who has lived most of her life in India. Now her father is going off to war, presumably World War I. She helps a fellow student improve her reading and impress her parents, makes friends with an Arabian man next door, and helps a maid with her self-confidence, all while working as a maid herself. A touching story from the famous Frances Hodgeson Burnett.

A Little Princess is about a little girl named Sarah Crewe whose father happens to be a very wealthy man. Unlike other little girls, Sarah has an amazing imagination and the talent to make up stories to tell. She also recognizes people who happen to be miserable and is very generous and offers them her friendship. She goes to a boarding school where she is the "show pupil" for her intelligence and ability to make everyone around her want to like her. But tragedy strikes and Sarah's father dies and she is left penniless. Suddenly, Sarah is forced to do hard work and wear rags, but despite her terrible conditions, she still thinks that in her mind, she is a "princess."


i thought this book was really good, and some parts in it made you really appreciate what you have and even in the worst times, you have to think positively.

A Little Princess did, it gave me chills. It is so so so so SAD. It is also an old movie starring Shirley Temple. I cry every time I read (or watch)it! Every one I think should read it! But CATION YOU WILL NEED A BOX OF TISUES!

This book is about a girl named Sara Crewe who comes to a boarding school in New York, England. When her father dies after shock of money loss Sara becomes a servant. She is challenged to use her imagination with the other servant girl named Becky. This girl is the nicest person who ever lived. When a caring young man gives her a wonderful present she ends up running for freedom. I won't tell the whole book but it is wonderful!

There are many emotions and feelings in this book because it is about a little girl named Sarah with a big imagination who loves to share it with others. This book made me feel happy, sad, and alot more!!! After you read it...watch the movie , either way it's a great book!

Burnett has a very strong, clear style that gives a Victorian feel. When reading this book, I really feel part of the times.
The story, with Sarah, the main heroine, is busy. By that I mean that the happenings are moving along there, it does not get stuck.
And I like a lot the descriptions of her friends and their relationships as well. I think they are well developed.
Anyway - I recommend this book. :)

This was a great book. I recomend it to any girl who has ever been homesick or missed her father. Sara is a girl who travels to America to get away from the war. But her father must stay to fight! Let the pages and story unfold in this sweet and magical novel. ( It's a lot better than I made it sound, I promise!)

As a young child Sara Crewe is brought over from India by her father to join a girls' seminary in London. Her greatest joy is to "pretend" things to make life more magical, both for herself and those less fortunate than herself. She is a general favourite, but her splendid clothes, French maid and personal carriage set her apart from the rest and create jealousy in Miss Minchin, the avaricious head of the school. When she is suddenly and tragically thrown into poverty Sara must keep a strong hold on her vivid imagination and tender heart to prove to those who
ill-treat her that even through hardship and want she can remain "a little princess".

I remember reading this book really quickly, because I liked it so much. I felt sad about Sara's new-found poverty and misery but believed that her strong character would enable her to cope with the difficulties. A Little Princess is a timeless classic and a heartwarming tale, which won't leave you untouched.
