This book was really good. With the problems in the world now, the author writes about it well. Its a story of a difficult struggle a girl must overcome. Exploring a new city, a new place, a new continent! Adjusting and making friends. But the greatest difficulty lies in her getting over her past and allowing herself to open up and lovve again. To trust people and not blame herslef for what happened. If this sounds intriguing to you, i suggest you read it!!

Maya runs away from the past, a past full of guilt, hurt, and pain. A past when, as she believes, she killed her heart, her love, Dov. The bomb was supposed to kill Maya, instead it got 7 others including Dov. Now, in America, she meets surprising friends and perhaps a way to heal.
A story of belonging, healing, hurting. A story of love and it's fortunate victims. There was an exceptional tale to be told and the author wrote it. This story makes you feel pain and the dilemma Maya is going through. You journey with her as you live in the present and travel to the past. Read this exceptional tale, you won't be sorry and only lose a couple of tears.

This is a heart-touching novel that looks into the Israel-Palestine conflicts. It focuses on Maya, an Israeli girl, whose boyfriend, Dov, has died in a suicide bombing that Maya feels that she is responsible for. She is torn apart in grief and guilt and leaves her country, Israel, for the University of Virginia in the US. There she learns to overcome the past and to live and love again.
After reading this novel, I felt that wars should be stopped because so many lives and loves are ruined. It's really sad that the Jews and Arabs in Israel and Palestine seem to be born to hate each other. So much hate and destruction and all it does is ruin lives. I'm glad reading this book gave me these insights.
