What I liked:
The book is told from two point-of-views, the rats and the mice. The plot is filled with a war of rats versus mice which started in book one but took off in this one. Beyond the battle is the quest to figure out the needle's powers and delphine's past. She must learn to believe in herself as much as those around her do. It isn't always easy for her, and it is very relatable, not just for children but also for adults. Delphine also needs to understand right and wrong and has to choose between gaining more power for the right reasons, but having that much power has consequences.
Final Verdict:
This book has a darker feel compared to the first book, which is mainly a setup book for the series. If you loved book one, then book two will be a delight as Delphine takes on the Rat King and finds out all about who she is and who the threaded are
