'You have been summoned to Sunstone Palace to compete in our search for the future Queen of Cahraman.' After years on the run, Adelaide thinks her lonely and dangerous life as a thief is finally over. But her world is upended when a witch steals her away to a faraway kingdom, to perform an impossible heist. If Adelaide fails, her newfound family would be sacrificed to a beast. To complete her mission, she’s forced to assume the role of a noblewoman and enter a royal competition. The prize is the hand of the elusive Crown Prince. Elimination means certain death. As the witch’s literal deadline approaches, Adelaide has one last gamble to save the day, and to escape to a new life with Cyrus, the handsome and mysterious fellow thief who stole her heart. But everything falls apart when the prince finally reveals himself…

Ada lives a life of thievery and steals what she can't afford to buy. Even though she's poor, she's lucky to have a friend like Bonnie who's always there for her no matter what. But when a witch captures Ada, she sends her to a foreign land in search of a lamp. Ada thinks it's a crazy request, but with Bonnie's life at stake, she'll do whatever it takes to find it.

The castle Ada's sent to is trying to find a bride and future queen of Cahraman. There, she must pretend to be a Noble Lady seeking the prince's hand so she can search for the lamp. When she meets a boy who can get her into the castle's vault, feelings of affection start to stir inside her. Cyrus will help her anyway he can, but he has secrets of his own.

I adored Cyrus's character and how he goes out of his way to help Ada. I love Ada's determination and that we get to see there's more to her than just being a thief. Her morals are in the right place. This book is an Aladdin retelling and I love the uniqueness to it.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy, Aladdin, the Selection series, royalty, and retellings.
