The City of Veils
Before long, she negotiates a deal with Felix: attend to her royal duties during the day and continue her vigilante mission to take out Lord Beswick at night-at least until her coronation. But the politics of Forcadel are as volatile as the streets, and Brynna isn't sure whom she can trust in the castle. With two royals dead in less than a month, she must use all her wits to make sure she isn't the third.
Brynna has trouble with the council and adapting to her role as queen. She had more success on the streets. She makes a bargain with Felix to resume her activities at night as long as she tries harder to be a good queen. She becomes a vigilante by night and a queen-in-training by day. Luckily, her sister-in-law Katarine is there to help with the politics side of things. Brynna is treading a dangerous path, but she isn’t one to give up.
THE CITY OF VEILS gives me a Batman/Robin Hood feel. I adored Felix and Katharine’s characters. I also liked how strong and stubborn Brynna is. I devoured this story and am eager for the next one.
Final Verdict: I would recommend this to fans of royalty, Batman, politics, Robin Hood, and fantasy.
