To be a normal teenage girl. To forget about the past. To fall in love for the first time. Is that too much to ask? Sixteen-year-old Allie Bailey just wants a break—a break from her overly-protected life. And Dragonfly Meadows summer camp is the answer. A summer away from her parents in the California Sierras with her best friend is exactly what she needs. But once at camp, Allie notices that things are a little off. Paid excursions are cancelled and staff is replaced with shady new people. When the camp's founder goes "missing," Allie starts to worry. Unable to let it rest due to her past, she starts to investigate, enlisting the help of Logan Montgomery, her best friend's older and adorably geeky brother. When hauntingly familiar flowers appear in Allie’s cabin, she’s not sure what to think—has her past caught up to her? Yet, after Allie stumbles across a murder conspiracy and chases down the truth, she becomes a target. Pushing through her paranoia and fear to find strength, it’s up to Allie to save herself and the campers from a deranged killer before it’s too late.

Dragonfly Nightmare by Erin Richards

The Story: Traumatized after a kidnapping in her childhood, Allie finally convinces her overprotective parents to let her go on summer camp. She is desperate to show her parents she can survive the big, bad world. Even when several suspicious events make her suspect things at camp aren’t as they seem…

The Characters:
Allie is easy to love. She carries many emotional scars from her childhood—and still manages these scars each day. At the same time, the author doesn’t bog the book down with ‘poor me’ darkness, instead Allie displays a wry humor, and positive outlook that endears us to her even more.

Laurel, the best friend is a great counterpart to Allie. We believe in the solidarity of their friendship from the beginning. Laurel lends herself to outrageous dialogue that keeps the reader laughing.

Logan; broody and protective = perfect combo. Not the typical muscly quarterback type, either! Bonus points for Erin Richards.

The author doesn’t portray the characters as angelic creatures—there is a grittiness to each, and they make questionable decisions just as teen characters should. It only makes us love them all the more.

The World:
Set in Dragonfly Meadows campground. We get a sense of cabins, lakes, and communal eating and showering areas; a summer camp located in bushy mountains. The atmosphere is fun and lively, despite the many foreboding signs Allie picks up along the way.

The Readability:
The Author delivers great dialogue and successful pulls the reader into the story. The emotions of the main characters carry across to the reader; We feel the fear, the excitement, the laughter, and attraction through the main character. The subplots and main plot tie together nicely to form the story’s climax. The ending satisfies all of our expectations.

Final Verdict:
For lovers of the Trixie Belden series comes a modern-day, teenage mystery with all the ingredients to lead you into a story of adventure, danger, and friendship.

I kind of got to know the main characters but they weren't totally real to me. Allie is the only one I really got to know. The love story was okay but not great.
Good Points
It is believable that Allie would want to go camping and understandable that her parents are protective since she was kidnapped. I thought there were some good twists and turns.
