After the First Death
They've taken the children. And the son of a general. But that isn't enough.
More horrors must come...
I hated this book. To require reading it goes beyond reason. Do most students understand that a novel written about fictional people has absolutely nothing to do with the realities of terrorism? Every character is flawed. No one triumphs except the terrorist that gets away in the end.
I pray that no one under the age of 21, unless he/she is a soldier would be forced by reading this to conjure up the types of images presented here.
The military tactics employed are so wrong, the son is absolutely undefinable, the bad guy gets away? the father is presented as equally a "bad guy"? (the author is a fool for suggesting that the son would be used in the first place), the girl is powerless even when brave, the author is obsessed with urinating, and the sexual images are inappropriate for young adults.
I resent having had to have read this book. It taught me nothing. Shakespeare, Kipling, or 1000 more well written books could do far more for a student's brain on the subjects of danger, suicide, murder, bravery, cruelty, evil, fanaticism, or hope and despair.
And, it disturbs me that it's written at about a 7th grade reading level. Drop this from your book lists, teachers. This is not literature. It's a lot of not so hidden agendas calling itself a thriller, and a poorly conceived one at that.
I had to read this book for school, but we had to choose which book we wanted. We had a choice of 6 books. I choose this one because it seemed really interesting and it has a catchy title. I would highly recommend this to people who like suspense books because this is that type of book. I would also sugest reading other books by this author if you like this book. This author tends to write a lot about suspense and mystery type of books.
I personally thought that this book was okay. Probably because I had to do assignments on it, but I would probably read other books like this because I like mystery and suspense.
This book was really good. It's suspenseful and thrilling and I just couldn't put it down. I read it for my english class in my freshmen year, and it's one of the few books I enjoyed reading. It's about these terrorists and they are planning on taking over a school bus and kidnap all the children until they get their money. But the they're also doing it as a test for one of the new criminals who had joined them, who's a teen from another country. Well they succeed at getting the buss but they don't succeed with the whole plan. You have to read it, to find out what happens. It's great.
theres a bus that gets hijacked. and the guys gives everyone(little kids) a candy bar that is drugged. the guys say they'll shoot if one of their men get shot.
this is a really good book and i would recomend it to people 15+
